That's what I used.

Thanks all, ended up using a 1/2" long set screw.The grip covers the front of the frame so the screw can't be seen. Shoots fine now.

Anybody know where to get a strain bolt for a 686? Brownells is out, Midway is discontinued, S&W doesn't have any, the place S&W referred me too doesn't have any for the round butt. Is a set screw my only option?

I need help in locating a rear sight for a 686-6, Numrich is out and S&W no longer carries parts. Thanks

I'm using 2.1gr of 231 under a Berry 83gr HBWC. So far my wife is happy with that load.

It's probably been mentioned before but 231 and HP38 are the same powder.

How clean is the cylinder? In mine, unfired rounds are pretty loose.

Oops, sorry this load would be used in a Hammerli SP 20. Will pick it up next week. Trying to get a head start on reloading for it.

Wife just got a new target pistol, now I need to find some loads for it. Info is a little scarce for this round. Loaded ammo seems to be 98gr. The only loads I have found use either VV 310 or w 231. Anybody have any loads which they would like to share.

Do you have to add a filler material to the case to make up for the low powder charge? I'm assuming that the powder fill is kind of low with a normal, not wadcutter, bullet.

I've got a 686 in 5" which I, judging from the prices on here, paid too much for. Still a fine shooting gun, love that trigger.
