New S&W owner with questions
Hello all,
Been browsing through the website for the past couple of days and am most impressed with the intelligence and humor that is shared by all. Recently acquired a S&W model 10 in solid condition (looks to be worn frequently but shot rarely). I couldn't be more pleased with the purchase (Bud's Gun Shop). I have two questions that I'm hoping someone can shed some light on.
1. Serial number is 5D93XXX Anyone have the model year?
2. How would one go about researching the history on a firearm? I assume this one was owned by a law enforcement agency. Is it possible to track down more specifics.
Thanks for any replies.

First off welcome from Wisconsin!
I can't answer your question but there's probably someone onsite who can. If not I suggest that you give S&W a call & ask them. I know of several that have & found out from them when their gun was born.

First welcome from Ohio!! I would put your M10 at about 1979. The $50 dollar letter from S&W is the best way to find out more on the history.
