Good question......I don't know the answer but I consider the ammo junk. Even the brass is poor quality.

I shot up a case full a few years ago, it was very cheap at the time. I did not have any problems with the original lot, but I did have problems with the brass when reloading it.

I would say that I wouldn't recommend it as top notch ammo, but if you can get it cheap I wouldn't tell you to avoid it.

A-Merc ammunition. Miami florida. The brass, after once-firing ,is trash. Will not hold a primer. They fall out.

Steer clear of it. Period. Unless it is the OnlY thing you can find at the time. Then shoot it ,and scrap the brass.

Hope this helps , Allen Frame

Have a few boxes left from 8-10 years ago 38sp. 158gr. lead rn and 45acp 230gr. ball jktd., both have shot OK, have had no problems or complaints with these, but have had no luck reloading the brass, primer pockets seem to be large primers will just fall out, these are in a blue paper box and have American Ammuniton Miami Fl. on them. The ones I've seen more recently were in a clear plastic pack , have no experience with these.

I have never used this stuff in factory loaded configuration but have reloaded A-Merc .45 ACP, 9mm Luger and .40 S&W brass. I have learned that the reloaded 9mm and .45 ACP brass are the worst and can actually choke in Glock chambers. I have no way of knowing which chamber originally fired them, but I always had problems with the once fired stuff. But in my experience the .40 S&W gave me two good reloads before the brass would no longer size down to the base. Now I just throw it all away on sight.

There is a gentleman in our club that loads the stuff, but he uses a Redding push through die to completely size them to the base. No one else will touch it.

Amerc .357s and .38 Specials won't work in my old Marlin .357 rifle. There is no notch in front of the rim, and the extractor won't grab the case.

American Ammunition

They seem to load only frangible bullets in their ammunition. Maybe they are also using Frangible cases!

I've seen the brass before and didn't try to reload it.I just sold it at a show.If I'd known it was such junk it would have been scrap instead.

Bought some in .45LC Their "jacketed" bullets were badly plated and the cooper would flake off in flightsending bullets all over hell and back. I'd have 2-3 duds per box of 50.

The brass barely has a rim and the primer pocket holes are so offset I actually set back the primer punch on my set of Lee dies several times.

Junk.

I have seen their .45ACP brass exhibit hysteresis creep. A friend reloaded some Amerc .45ACP and chamber checked each one. Three weeks later he shot it in a match and about 30% wouldn't chamber. Upon closer examination we found that much of the brass had increased its diameter and reduced its length, and wouldn't enter a standard chamber.

With all the problems I know of first hand, and the many I've seen related, I do not see how they are still in business.

One more comment. Junk brass that reloaders avoid like the plague. Always a problem if you pick up range brass for reloading. Good way to jam your reloading press.
