You know what they say about opinions, but mine is they are both nice pistols. I prefer the glock. Both guns are stellar peformers and very reliable it boils down to your personal preference. Which one do you like better either one is a great choice. Glock is the most widely sold handgun in the world.

XD likes: Feel, trigger, steel magazine, grip safety.

Glock likes: Low profile, famous durability, many after-market parts.

XD dislikes: Hole in the back of the slide.

Glock dislikes: Grip angle, plastic front sight

I like my Glock nines and am in the market for a model 21 or a 20...

I like the mag prices on the glock a lot better and can deal with the ergonomics. A gun is a tool and not as some claim " an extension of my being" that needs to exude zen like and Feng shui qualities :p

I was a glock non participant until a couple years back and I decided another 9mm high cap was in order just because and now have several.

Arew they as nice as a good 1911 or smith revolver? No but I will abuse it like I would not one of them either...

I did buy 2 XDs in the .45, one was a 5 inch and the other a 4?
I sold them because I was a better shooter with my 4 Glocks.
3-21s and a 26
Mine were both Bi-tones, I did not like the triggers on the XDs.
Don't know why, but I was just better with the 21s.
Don't get me wrong, the XDs were a fine gun and I really wanted to keep them both.
I would never say not to buy one.

Of course I have to make a note of the M&P of which I have 3 of. I speak highly of them however never has a Glock or XD.

Shoot both then make your decision. It's simply going to come down to that.

I have both, I like the XD better, I shoot my 21 quite often, but I am now more into shooting my XD Tactical 45.

The XD feels better in my hand

Glock does not feel well in my hand. But I get great accuracy with mine. I also am able to do most of my own smithing on them. They are very easy to work with and parts are everywhere. Glocks are also very easy to clean. Basically you can blow it off and swab the barrel. The XD does feel better in the hand but I have not tried smithing them.

I've got the Springfield XD in .45 and my only complaint about it is the 18 pound recoil spring, which is hard for me to pull all the way back.

By contrast, my M&P 45 compact has a 16 pound spring and it's a lot easier for me to work. I think the full sized 45's spring was also just as easy for me.

I just can't buy a Glock.

I like my Glock 21. Then again I have big hands (I use an XL in Rink and Morini target grips), but they have the new reduced size grip size model out. When I travel I count on my 21 and two magazines of Federal Hydroshocks. No substitute for the ole' flying ashtray! My only other thought is when you pick up the model 21 remember you are going to shoot it with two hands. It doen't need to fit like a one handed bullseye gun. I know ther are some police agencies that use the 21, but I am not aware of too many that issue the XD (I have no idea really)

Best,

Dwight

The Glock 30SF has good capacity and will even take the 13 round mag. It's a sub compact and pretty light too. Never fired one but one is on my wish list.

FUNNY!

That YouTube bit was good. I agree with the guy with the English accent. I have had XD's, Glocks, M&P's, Sigmas and H&K USP They each had traits I liked and some I didn't. The last time I made a choice of that type when I was deciding between a G27 vs S&W M&P .40c. I took the Glock for no other reason than the Glock had night sights and I have so many holsters and other things for the Glock platform. I have had the G21, 20 and 30. They were all just too big for my hand and as much as I liked them, I just couldn't make them work. I have an XD-45 Compact now that shoots well and fits my hand better. I would certainly try the M&P 45 and may. When it comes to a .45 auto pistol, I have always preferred the 1911 and that is still what I carry most of the time. If you are a true "Gun Nut" you will probably own both eventually anyway.

I go to alot of gun shows in a 125 mile radius of Clinton, there is this man and wife that are always there selling stuff, they sell new Hi-points, must have 20-30 of them on their tables.
No one, and I say no one ever looks at their guns:D
So, are they junk for 250 bucks?

I have both - a G21SF and an XD Tactical. Little to choose between them as to reliability, durability, ease of maintenance, etc. There are two things that fall in the XD's favor in my opinion. First, I have smallish hands. I can make the Glock work OK, but the Springfield is a better fit. Second, I find it just a bit easier to hide the Springfield. Even with the long slide, I carry it in a CompTac IWB holster and the thing just disappears. The Glock seems to be just enough wider that it isn't as easy for me to conceal. The one thing I especially like about the Glock, though, is the fact that it works really well with a 10mm conversion barrel. So if I want real power, that's the one I pick up. Just a few thoughts.
