Personally I would not have the need for it to fold.. I bought a foregrip because I want to use it. Also mine has a cast aluminum fold out bipod which is very sturdy and I use it all the time at the range. When I'm not using it you'd never know it's there. I stayed away from a plastic grip / bipod because they look too fragile and flexy.

Why would there be a need for it to fold? Maybe someone here can tell me why they use a folding one.

I've shot other folk's 15-22 with vertical foregrips and have yet to see what good they are on this particular firearm. They force the non-shooting hand into a very unnatural position. The concept was originally created for the M4 to aid in controllability in burst fire in combat situations - a situation that obviously doesn't exist with our rifles.

An angled foregrip, like the MagPul AFG and AFG2, used to help maintain hand position on the quad rail or other fore end in another matter, IMHO. When my son was in Bagdhad, he quickly ditched the issued vertical for an AFG2 I sent him.

But then, as I have said on other matters - to each his own weirdness.

On both my M&P-22 and my AR15, I used magpul short fore grips. I wanted to have hanging down from the rifle only what was needed to grip. It worked for me. If you have any friends or LGS that would let you try some that would be good.
