A couple of LGS have some .556 Bushmasters for $559 (IIRC).
Sound like a good price?

any idea on round count? We always replaced barrels at 6K rounds or over for service rifle comp guns..guessing that the dept replaced the whole lot & they wisely turned them all in for trade in value with the LE dealer/ manufacturer... so they might actually have low counts and saw much duty time in squad car trunks... if they weren't SWAT issue.....if SWAT team rifles/ warrant team rifles they could have very high counts............let us know what you find out.

added if like new & in M4 flat top style carbine, I'd spend the bucks & get one if you need an AR. but if it's seen much handling wear... I'd pass........

You can get a brand new AR-15 for that money from AIM Surplus IIRC.
+1
IMO, AR's are as cheap now as I've seen them in a long time.
I'm assuming leftovers from the boom that has went bust. Once the bust inventory is gone, prices will likely stabilize. At least until the next incident or legislative action starts the process all over again.
In the meantime, I wonder how low AR prices will go?

For that money I'd be more comfortable buying a new M&P Sport. For a few hundred more, what I'd really do is get a Colt 6920.

It's great how cheap ARs are right now; I'm guessing we won't be enjoying the same in a year...

Thanks for the input. Yep, I meant 5.56mm

As a general rule Cops do not take care of their guns, if it was an issued gun even less so. If that shop will warranty one of'm and you can dicker for a lower price then you might could risk it. If not, I'd pass.

What's there to really take care off? You're not shooting corrosive ammo. Lack of cleaning? So? That doesnt make the firearm broken. Buy it and clean it. Very few of my firearms are not cop guns and they all work like the day they were made.

I was a Cop for 35 years. Yes, they get treated like ****. The big difference is in Officer owned guns. You likely have not nor ever will see some of the really bad guns.

Doubtless true, but the LE armorers I've known took their jobs very seriously; the firearms may not have looked pretty, but the innards were well-cared for and ran right.
