One of the big stores has a sale on this Scope. I'm going to pick one up for my Sport II. I have a couple of questions.

Does this come with rings? Or do I need to buy them? If I need to pick them up, which set do you recommend if you have this set up? Thanks

Personally I really like the Burris PEPR mount in the QD version. In testing it will return to zero within 1/2 inch at 100 yards which is good enough for my carbine length AR's. Height above the stock is also dead on perfect so that Perfect Eye Position reference is IMO accurate. Final big plus is that I can use it on either my 300 BLK or 16 inch 223 to test ammunition for accuracy or simply take a break from shooting with irons.

I was interested in this scope too for my newly purchased M&P 15 Sport 2. Which store has it on sale? Thank you!

Amazon may collect tax in his home state, they do in Texas.

MidwayUSA has the Leupold one-piece on sale now, I think $83. Not sure about the quick detach model. I like this mount on my AR, some prefer the Burris.

Nikon makes a good scope for the money. Like stated above, the mounts may or may not be part of the package. My M-308 came with a mount but not all do.

If you plan on having back up sights, it might be a good idea to get the Burris with QDs anyway, otherwise you will need to tool to remove the scope if there is ever a problem with it.

I bought one on sale not long ago. It was the 3x9x40mm version.
The sale price was too good to resist.
Mine did not come with rings.
I installed UTG quick release mounts to mate it to my Sport. The set up works just fine.
I hope the "cheap" haters dont slam me but if you do, just remember
that I saved a lot of money and am shooting sub MOA.

Sometimes they will run a promotion where the P223 mounts are included with purchase. If not, then you will need to buy that mount separately, or a Burris PEPR... these are cantilever mounts that allow you to move the scope forward yet still be mounted on the receiver only, as well as put the scope to the proper height for the AR 15.

P-Series Mount from Nikon

Burris AR-P.E.P.R. 1-Piece Extended Scope Mount Picatinny-Style

I bought mine during a promo where the mount was thrown in. Very nice scope, clearer than a Leupold 1.5-4x AR I had at the time.

I have a M223 and the Nikon mount was an add.

PEPR is a decent mount, but heavy. Plus side, QD. The Nikon mount probably will require a tool.

I have the same scope on a Del-Ton AR. I used the Nikon P series mount. That or the more expensive one piece Nikon M series or Burris PEPR are perfect for the AR platform.

It's a great scope. Very bright and clear for the price paid. My son and I used it this morning to shoot steel plates at 150 meters and 600 meters. I must admit that we did more missing than hitting at 600 meters, but that's on us rather than the scope.

I have Two AR 15's with the Nikon P223 3x9x40mm scopes and I also use the UTG Quick relase mounts and the rifles hold there zero perfectly.

I like the idea of quick release mounts. Do you have a link to the UTG ones that work with this scope?

I have the 3-9x P-223 scope on my AR with the P-series mounts. The two-piece cantilever design lets me mount the scope in the forward position as others have mentioned. One advantage the two-piece mounts have over the single-piece mounts is that it allows you to use the Caldwell rail-attached brass catcher. I mounted the attachment plug between the scope mounts. If I had the single-piece mounts, I couldn't use this brass catcher, as it must line up with the ejection port.

I have a fixed 3X P223 on one of my ARs and I like it a lot. I used the Nikon mounts. I think I got mine on sale at Optics planet.

I finally pulled the trigger on the P223 from Amazon, and a set of P series mounts. Now if they would just get here.

Oh right, I just placed my order 30 minutes ago, on a holiday weekend...

It does require an Allen wrench. One reason I went with the Magpul MIAD grip, the wrench is in there and secure.

Yep, that's the setup we use, works well. We were able to find the 3-9x40 with the P-Series mount for $199, shipped, at Optics Planet... they have deals from time to time.

I have the 3 x 35 P223 on my 20 inch AR...works great. Bought it from a family friend for a whopping $50 too.
