Trench gun complete!

I made two minor substitutions. One is fitting a thin rubber buttpad...the hard plastic is brutal with most any load...the main function here is something fun to shoot...and I inletted a Krag/1903 Springfield sling swivel...as the originals and even reproductions are more expensive than I'm willing to pay.

The finish I have some reservations about. The bayonet adapter and front of the heat shield may look a little more worn/patina'd than I'd like. The receiver and barrel are a little speckled and it doesn't quite match.

Overall it's pretty awesome...the action is unbelievably smooth, and it's a riot to shoot. I've had a 20" Remington 870 Wingmaster previously, which was quite nice...but I like this more. The only bummer is that the receiver assembly and disassembly is a bit convoluted with screws and grub screws throughout...but that's no big deal.

I've seen the original guns sell for crazy prices online...I'm happy to have a reasonable facsimile that I can shoot freely without regret.

Ithaca is still making a modern reproduction in a parkerized finish...but it loses the slam fire function, isn't as pretty, and costs twice as much.

Great looking shotgun. Few firearms project "I mean business" like a trench gun.

Looks good, wondering where you sourced the heat shield bayo mount from ?

Btw the bayonet that fits the Winchester
Trench gun also fits the 1917 Eddystone rifle,
Not the Springfield 1903.

That is very sweet my friend, but doesn't that barrel shroud make it more "lethal?" lol

Yes, I know...my only reference to a Springfield was to the sling swivel.

It's kind of a given that an M1917 bayonet would fit a M1917 rifle. :D

This gives me an idea. I could put a magazine extension on my Plain-Jane 870, couldn't I?

But of course! Though it is missing the shoulder thingy that goes up... :D

It's always amazing how the politians most interested in firearms regulations know the least of the subject.

Gotta have a bayonet lug and a bayonet. I have two 590A1s that serve as "car guns". Yes, I live in the South. Both have a bayonet and a bandoleer of slugs and buckshot. My wife thinks this situation is amusing. I hope I never feel the need to "fix bayonets".
