I need a decent razor blade or electric razor that works. These days it seems that I can hardly get a decent shave out of a new blade. I have tried the common brands, the Harry's and such, but they all seem to be junk.

What do you guys use that works? I am to old and shaky to us a straight razor, so that's out.

Thanks in advance for your input.

My wife bought me an electric razor about 40 years ago. It just didn't do the job. For most of my life I used Gillette but got tiredof paying a premium price. There is a place online that I have been using that is reasonable and I get about a month out of one blade. It's: shavemob.com.

I had a Remington electric shaver when I went to basic training at Lackland AFB. the D.I. wasn't near as impressed as I was with it. he locked up my foot locker , picked it up and threw the whole thing down a flight of stairs. one heck of a first impression

I use Personna Medical Prep Double Edge Razor Blades, about $35/100 and a Murker 34C Razor.
Musgo Real Classic Scent shave cream and a good Badger brush complete the kit.
I also like Dominica Bay Rum After Shave.
Note: There are wet shave Forums, like "Shave My Face" that are very comprehensive. Not unlike this one!

Best,
Rick

Electric razors have come a very long way since I got my first one in the '60s. I started using a top of the line Norelco (9000 model or maybe 9000 series, if there is a difference) about three or four years ago and wouldn't go back to shaving with a blade. The Norelco doesn't irritate my skin and the shave is as good as a good blade without the chance of nicking your face.

Replacement cutter/blades aren't cheap, around $50 or $60 for authentic Norelco, but only need to be replaced about every 9-12 months. For me, well worth the expense.

The old Gillette twist open will do the job if used in skilled hands but can draw blood if not careful.
The cheap toss away will work in a pinch but only last for four to five shaves.

My electric razor does a fair job but it does need to be cleaned about every third use, to keep it working correctly.
Some companies state their blades will dull in time and a new set is needed in the future.

When I was in High school, my old Remington did not ever get dull..............but it weighed twice as much as my new "Modern" electric that I use today.

I do put the "Foam" on every now and then for a good shave.....
Good luck.

I've used Norelcos for 50 years and while they were okay, they all could be better.
For 3 years, now, I've been using a Norelco Nivea style.

It is truly the shaver that I've been looking for my whole life.

I try to avoid superlatives but I can recommend it without hesitation.
Fast and close, it gets all of the weird whiskers on my lower neck. I've never used the lotion option.
No. I don't work for Norelco.

^^^This is great advice. I go even cheaper on the blades and use Astras for around $12 per 100. At that price, I use a new sharp edge with every shave.

I use the Astra double edge blades as referenced above. I shave daily and each blade lasts about a week. Two years worth of blades give or take for $10.

Butterfly old school razor handle, badger hair brush and a little stainless shave cup.

Shave soaps you don't have to spend much to get a one that works well. The Van der Hagen cakes make a good foam and are inexpensive.

Close, clean shaves. Rarely a nick and if so I just keep a styptic pencil in my undersink drawer.

I found Bic makes a pretty good disposable razor. I had a bag full stashed away for some reason and I started using them and I'm getting a decent shave even though I only shave about every 3 days.

This is my experience too. I think the Bic works better on those of us who let it grow a few days as it's a single blade. The multi-blades get clogged. They are cheap and I use them a couple three times and toss them. A dozen is less than $10. I use 2 or 3 a month.

Since a day or two growth has become stylish I only shave every few days . I use brush and soap and get a good lather right after a hot shower and use a four or five blade razor for plenty’s of shaves. Since I have a bad right arm it takes both hands to shave now so it takes me awhile to shave. Still don’t go out much in public without shaving.

I use both I have a Norelco that you can use wet, I wash it out everytime I use it.

Use Dollar Shave Club for several years now. Send them to you in the mail. Highly recommend. Use an electric every once in a while - a Braun. Always been a blade person for past 50 years. Like a close shave and never felt could get one with electric.
