Walmart has 1400 rd buckets of Rem. 22’s

Went by another walmart today and they had 325 Federal match, same price as months ago, $22.75 tax included.
Think we need to Realize walmart has hard time finding employees as well as Most places. I know, I know its a PITA to get somebody to come to sporting goods to sell ammo but thats the way it is. I know a guy that works in sporting goods and he tells me its really hard to find people to work, period. He’s retired from his career job, so walmart is something to do for him.

Would anyone be happy even if they were a penny each?

I personally wouldn't buy anything Remington. In fact, I wouldn't take them for free.

Pops, not bangs and outright duds. They have been that way for 20 or more years. Just have a pop and have it leave a bullet in your barrel and that will cure you forever.

BTW, my WalMart now has Federal Target 22's at the same price as the **** Rems. I bought 15 bricks a few months ago and have used 3 so far. All were 100% and I would be happy to use them in a match.

The bucket of golden bullets has been my go to "watch price" for the insanity of the past few month. People at the LGS were asking 300 a year ago. Then as the year progressed, the price asking price came down to 250 last spring, then mid summer, prices appeared to be around 225-200 and then this fall, people started to find them at wallyworld as Lonoke came back on line and hit the market and then they were worth 150 to 125. Insanty has abounded in 2021, I hope that 2022 is better. If anyone wants a bucket of these for 400, send me a message. For the life of me, I can not see all the fuss. Personally think they have always been worth abount 50-60 bucks, but then, again, I do not set the market price.

I have somewhere between 12,000 and 14,000rds of .22lr ammo and don't think i'll be getting any more for a while. Back in the last shortage (thank you bamma) i had someone wanted me to sell him some, I declined the offer simply because i didn't know if I'd be able to replace what I sold. I buy it when it's cheap and hang on to what I have when it's not.

No. My problem is quality is so bad most of what I have bought from 2000 on has been junk compared to pre 2000 rimfire ammo. I would rather give $10.00 a hundred for the ammo I used to shoot than $1.00 a 100 for the garbage they are all selling now.

In the mid 80's I bought a 1903 Winchester .22 Automatic rifle that used the .22 Winchester Auto cartridge . At that time those cartridges had been out of production for a few years and all I could find was collector priced stuff at gun shows. Winchester started at $25.00 a box and went up , Remington from the 40's and 50's was usually $10-$15 a box for 50. I got lucky after I had had the rifle a hair over a year and run into a friend of mine who was a collector and sold cartridges at the Nashville show . Curtis had 100 boxes of the Remington he was asking $10.00 a box for . I asked him for a price if I bought it all and told him I needed it for hunting with the rifle . He said he would take $6.00 a box if I bought it all and would throw in one of the $25.00 boxes of Winchester for me to keep to display with my cartridge collection. I bought them and still shoot them today. They were old enough to be copper cased and this has been a very long way to say that so far I can only remember two of the many I have pulled the trigger on that did not go bang with the appropriate pop and hit where I was aiming. One of them was my fault since I had let the bolt get crud in it and the firing pin was sluggish . Cleaned the bolt and that round fired on the next attempt. I can't get through one box of 50 of the rimfire ammo I can buy now without having a hand full of duds.

I won't knowingly waste my money on junk at any price.

Remington isn't really Remington anymore. Did the lack of quality carry over?

I would hope Federal would whip them into shape. I would assume they are still using the same factory, but don't know.

For the first time in months our Walmart had some of the Win. 22 in the repro old yellow 300 round boxes.

I didn't even check the price. I just bought one.
42.00 and change? WOW! That's .014 a round! NO deal there!! Glad I only bought one.

Two years ago I bought 6,500 rounds of Rem golden bullets online for 240.00 delivered to my door.

I haven't seen any buckets in Walmart in for over a year.

I've been shooting Rem. Hpt. Golden Bullets since the '70's... Never failed me. My go to 22 LR rimfire... Flame on.... 22 Rimfire is prone to a few failures... Just life. Have had high end Eley do the same. So I guess we got that.

The CCI Standard I bought was $32 per 1000 last spring at Larry's West in Madison Alabama . It is without a doubt the worst most inconsistent garbage I have ever bought . Every round I tried fired but it is like every powder charge is different . That's not a good deal at any price .

I read where a guy had bought several boxes of Remington 30-30 ammo and when he got to the range with it over half of the first box would not fire. Never had but very little problem with CF ammo but I have loaded since I started shooting and very seldom buy factory stuff . I did buy 2 boxes of Remington 25-20 but only did it because you can't find new brass . What of it I have shot has been as good as it ever was . Was told when I bought it that the discount price I got was because it had been on the shelf for over 5 years and they would be glad to see it find a home . Regular price then was $65-$85 per box and they sold it to me for $45 per box . I would have gladly bought 10 boxes but they only had the 2.

When I see guys still disparaging Goldens (duds, dirty, inaccurate and crooked bullets) I can tell they haven't shot any recently, and if they have shot some recently and have those issues, it must be some really old stock.

ALL of the issues I've had recently as far as rimfire ammo have been from Winchester and Federal.
I only wish the Walmarts near me would get some more Goldens in.

For the last couple months all they have had is Federal Automatch.
I used to like it, now I get a fizzle round every 20 or 30 shots.
Had one Automatch round shot out of my S&W 63 that didn't even make a weak report sound.
It sounded like a very quiet fart. I opened the cylinder and looked down the bore fully expecting the bullet to be stuck in the barrel. Nothing. Opened the cylinder and the bullet was still in the case.
Dang, and I bought 9 bricks of the Automatch.

For all you Remington Haters/Federal Lovers out there, I'd be happy to trade you a bunch of Automatch for any of your Goldens, provided they aren't Goldens you've had stashed for a decade. I'll even trade you 2 to 1.

Some of you complain vehemently about Goldens, and others here say they shoot very reliably, decent plinking accuracy, and no damaged rounds in the box. I'd wager that the guys that are having no issues are shooting new production stuff.

It's funny when people try to tell you not to believe your own eyes and experiences, my experience is that Remington got their act together and is producing decent bulk plinking ammo in the Goldens, while other companies seem to be slipping in quality.

The box of Goldens I have issue with were from the 2013 time range. I have a box from 2020, but haven't even opened it because I figured it was bad as the 2013 box.

The replacement for the "help" button -- just pick up the phone next to the register, hit the intercom button, and make a storewide announcement that customers in Sporting Goods are getting restless...

I've done that..."associate to sporting goods, associate to sporting goods...thank you"

Yeah don't buy those Remington golden bullet 22's. Leaves more for me. I have many thousands of them and will take more. My real experience is they are as good as any bulk packaged 22 ammo maybe better.
I don't have any new Thunderbolts because I have not seen any but the older ones I have shot don't have leading problems. No they are not match grade but at the cost they are just for burning up.

I'm the exact opposite from an ammo snob, but I've had really bad luck with the Federal Auto Match that Walmart has had in stock recently. Glad I didn't buy a bunch.

I made it through the last 120 rounds of a third box of Automatch and didn't have a single weak round.
The Automatch fired yesterday was the most accurate in my S&W 63 out of 5 brands I took with me.
We'll see how the next box does.

This is what I'm experiencing.

Our local Walmarts have had the vintage Winchester yellow boxes of 300 rounds sitting on the shelf for months at $40/ea. About 50% of the time they have the the 325 round boxes of Federal AutoMatch sitting next to them for $18.54/box. This week they had CCI Standard Velocity for $3.67/box and one had two buckets of the Remington Golden Bullets for $69/bucket.

DON'T BUY........
