Retired W4,
Lots of parts are still out there and decent pricing. This guy has plenty of G3 surplus . . .

My first roller locked rifle was one of the HK-41s.
I liked it and was able to purchase a G3k for what now seems like a ridiculously reasonable price a few years later
Long ago someone saw me shooting the 41 and offered me what I called stupid money at the time. He offered more then 10x what I had bought it for less than a decade prior. Hindsight says I should have kept it.
My G3k came with both stocks. and some of the Factory 30 round magazines. I eventually added one of the HK-21's 50 round drums to my package. My forend is the wide style hat is slotted for heat dissipation
All of my HK long guns have stiff cocking handles. The HK-21 cocking handle is oversize and works well on the G3k. It was a nice modification
When the world moved away from the G3 I bought spare parts really cheap, so far I have never needed them. At that same time CDDN was selling VG to LN aluminium magazines in cases of 50 for $.97 per mag, Yes I said ninety seven cents a magazine. At the time you could not buy a mag spring that cheap so I grabbed two cases of mags.
I wish I had bought one of the 3 shot burst fire control groups at that time. They are so expensive today
My collapsible stock is shorter than a fixed stock so that it can be comfortable when wearing a vest. My fixed stock has the HK-21 buffer mounted in it which increased the cyclic rate from the standard 600 RPM to 720 RPM. It also has the HK-21 butt pad on it. That buffer and butt pad does alter the recoil pulse when compared to the collapsible stock
My CETME has a common looking muzzle brake that reduces recoil to about that of an AR 15, but blast has to be heard to be appreciated...
Larry,
My G3k has a non HK muzzle brake on it. It is extremely effective, but in combination with the 12" barrel, this little guy sounds more like my big 50 to those around me. The brake also works like a flash enhancer if you are watching the muzzle blast
We all know that in German S-E-F stands for:
Sicher
Einzelfeuer
Feuerstoss
A associate of mine says that S-E-F in English means:
Safe
Economical
FUN
I even bought one of the G3 sub caliber kits back in the early days.
This is a FUN 22LR SMG. When my youngest niece started High School and joined the JrROTC rifle team, she was the only member with machine gun experience. First Sergeant called me to ask if she was just boasting or actually had trigger time
Since getting the G3k, I have added an MP5/10 and an MP5/357 to the family
I fell in love with the 10MM variant when the FBI's Miami office got theirs in. We shot it over at the Medley Law Enforcement range in Dade County.
So when one of the 10MM variants became available I jumped on it. Then I heard about the 357SIG variant and had to have one, I never bothered with the 9MM or 40S&W versions. While there is not sub-sonic 357SIG ammunition, the Suppressor does make it a totally different gun to shoot. I have multiple stocks for both SMGs
I just recently replaced the HK rear sight with a micro red dot. It is a HUGE improvement over that silly drum sight. I know, I need to do some pictures.
