What do you think about the new Mac-Gar magazines for Glock? They don't have the plastic cover like the original ones and some say they ruin the release button. I tried to buy one and looked at it carefully and it doesn't seem to have any sharp parts that could ruin the release button. Do you think I should get the original magazine?

Many manufactures spec Met-Gar for their factory mags; they are one of the best in the industry. However, for Glock I prefer the ubiquitous, plastic factory mags, merely because they work and they’re cheap.
And the even cheaper Magpul mags have been perfect for me.

I have had good results with Shield 15 round Metal Mags in my Glock 43x.
They came with a metal mag release which is recommended for the metal magazines.

I'm looking at buying a Glock 48 and I will probably get some of the Shield mags also. My question is how the metal mag release will affect the standard Glock mags. Will the metal part cause excessive wear on the plastic mags? Does installing the metal part restrict me to the metal magazines?

IN A G19 GEN 3 THEY WORK PERFECT......... And in a Kel Tec sub2000 Gen 3...... The Gen 3 sub2000 has a 19 grip frame and the Mec-Gar magazines are perfect with there extended base (18rds), they match up to the grip nice............. They do not ruin the magazine release, the mag catch is pressed in not cut, no sharp edges. I like them.

I have Glock 48 and 43. I use Shield magazines for both. Shield recommends that you replace the factory mag catch for a metal one which they can provide. They state the steel magazines can damage the standard mag catch.

I replaced the mag catches on both my Glocks. They work well with both magazines.

I have an RXM - came with 2 ProMag magazines. Started grabbing discounted Glock 19 mags everywhere I could find them at the local gun stores. Never a misfeed, no problems, and lock in tighter than the factory ProMags.
