Does anyone not own a 9mm?

I bought my first 9MM in 1973, a new in the pouch 69C Hi-Power and learned to reload for it with a Lee Loader. I use a Dillon 550 now and shoot quite a bit of 9MM every year. I shoot two Browning Hi-Powers, an Sig P49, P08, P38, Sig 228, M40 Lahti, Colt 9MM Government, G17, G19, and my EDC Sig P365. I shoot more 45ACP, 44-40 and 45Colt than I do 9MM because I compete with those calibers. I prefer the bigger calibers but I’ve always enjoyed the 9MM.

Anyone not own a 9mm? And the big question is why?

The Illinois State Police issued the S&W Model 39 to their troopers in 1967, making the ISP the first American state police force to issue a semiautomatic pistol as a duty weapon to their officers.

The Beretta M9 was adopted by the United States military as their service pistol in 1985.

The Luger was produced in several models and by several nations from 1898 to 1949. They were brought to the US as War Trophies after WWI in 1918 and after WWII in 1945.

I cannot create a Poll but I assume that 100% of the Forum knows the 9×19mm Parabellum (also known as 9mm Luger, 9mm NATO or simply 9mm) is a rimless, centerfire, tapered firearms cartridge. That is extremely popular here and aboard.

Though I've been shooting for almost 70 years I didn't own a 9mm handgun until a few years ago because the cartridge didn't impress me. And though I'm not a Glock fan, they're nice pistols but the grip configuration just doesn't feel comfortable in my hand, I do credit them for creating a big push for research in and improvements to the 9mm cartridge.
So now I have a S&W model 59 that I shoot fairly often but my favorite handgun calibers are still 45acp and .357 magnum.

I bought my first 9mm in 1971, a Browning Hi Power. I gifted that to # 1 son last year. Beyond that I now own a SIG 1911 9mm match elite, a Dan Wesson PM-C commander size 9mm, and a Tisas Stingray commander size 9MM. All 3 are upwards of 500 rounds, and perform flawlessly. The 9's have the floor IMO for the most pleasurable shooting for longer sessions. Although I still maintain the 45acp is king of the hill

However these days I have a huge load of 9mm handguns. For me, the fact is that I am not particularly attracted to the 9mm cartridge. However, there are so many fantastic handguns chambered for the round, that’s how I ended up chasing so many of them.
I don’t have what I call a huge load and am not particularly attracted to the 9mm either but somehow I keep acquiring more handguns. Last month I brought a Beretta APX Combat Carry simply because the price was so low.

I have owned a bunch of 9mm handguns over the years. First handgun I ever shot was a WWII bringback Luger that one of my dads American Legion buddies had. I was just a kid but I knew I wanted one from that day forward........... When I finally got to buying my own guns Lugers were hard to find at a price I could afford but found a deal on a Walther P-38. I eventually did get my Luger (actually more than one of them) as well as a variety of other 9's. Even though I have been a victim of "Trader Disease" most of my life I've managed to keep a Luger and a P-38 in my collection at all times. Along with S&W's, Rugers, Glocks and a Browning or two, there are always 9's around to keep my other caliber guns from feeling lonely.

PS: I like those "other" 9mm guns too. the 9mm Largo. 9mm Styer and the 9X18 Makarov.............

I have a couple that I’ve never shot and owned for a few years now. One is a 9mm barrel that came with my .22 TCM and the other is a really nice model 39. I don’t know why I haven’t shot it…just never got around to it, I guess. I love the way it feels in my hand and I definitely am going to shoot it.

Then I bought my middle daughter an M&P 9 2.0 for her Police Academy graduation. I’ve shot it quite a bit and really like it. Next, I picked up a Sig P365 really cheap when the guy wanted to get the super duper XL optic cut model. It’s an early one that’s been shot a lot before me and now I’ve probably put close to 1K rounds through it. Great little gun and I just picked up a Milt Sparks Summer Special IWB so I can start carrying it.

Aaaaaand today…I found what is called a S&W M&P 9 2.0 OR Spec Series Kit. I never knew they existed, but I was looking for a M&P 9 with a threaded barrel and picked this up pretty cheap. The little Sig is fun with a can, but I can’t use the sights and it looks a little ridiculous with a nearly one foot can hanging off the nose. I can’t wait to try this M&P out with some subs. Now I have .22LR, 9mm, 10mm, and .45 suppressor hosts, but only 2 cans…I’m going to have to get some more cans!IMG_7299.jpeg

I have a few. I guess I like 9mm because the ammo is cheap.

SIG P226
Kimber Rapide Ice 1911
FN509C
Canik SFx Rival-S
Taurus PT99
Springfield XD-S
Springfield Loaded Target 1911
Remington RP-9
Ruger LC9

My favorite shooters would be the SIG P226 and the Canik Rival-S. The Canik is a really nice chromed steel frame gun. I had never given any thought to them until a few months ago. It's nice.

Me..., had a 92 Centurion eons ago for a little while. Sold it and never felt the need for another 9mm. Why? I don't know, guess I need to be different. Nothing in particular about it...

I've only got one

The one in my avatar is a Beretta M9A4 Centurion
Put a Leupold DeltaPoint on it

Got it because it was on sale and I wanted to play with a red dot on a pistol.

18+1 of Federal HST 124gr+p is no joke. Yeah, I carry my M&P .45 more but this 9 is growing on me. Cheaper to shoot and easier for me to hit with.

None. Was issued a 5906 decades ago and a few M9s while contracting. I have no confidence in the round based on past agency shootings using the best 9mm JHPs available. Ball impresses me less - I consider 9mm and 7.62 Tokarev little different.

9mm?
I have:
9mm Corto, 9mm Parabellum, 9mm Largo, 9mm Makarov

Pistols, revolvers, carbines, rifles and half a dozen subguns.

Still not a favorite cartridge. 😊

I live in Germany and apart from my S&W collection I use an INFINITY in 9mm with High Capacity magazine. It came with a Schuman barrel with progressive twist. This dictates use of Hornady HAP 125 grains bullets, which makes shooting not really cheap. On the other side this is a shooting machine. I have another INFINITY with standard barrel which ha never seen anything else than my hand casted Hensley & Gibbs no. 68 bullets. Also a perfect shooter and now 25 years old. One firing pin and a broken extractor in all these years and uncountable number of shots. I love both guns and don’t want anything else!

I did in the 1980's. At that time I had a Smith & Wesson Model 39 that was pristine. Lost it in a burglary around 1989. I reload maybe 25 calibers. 9mm is not one of them although I have dies for it. The handguns are mostly uninteresting and don't do anything for me. Reloading means any caliber costs around $5 per box.

I’ve had several 9mm pistols over the years. My first was a S&W model 59 I bought back in 1981. Several 9mm pistols have come and gone over the years. Currently I only have four in the safe.

2 - S&W model 59
1 - S&W model 39
1 - Springfield Hellcat
