Does anyone not own a 9mm?

Well, the members of this forum are a skewed sample, because of course a lot of people don't own a 9mm. I don't. I've I always only owned .38 revolvers, plus a shotgun and .22 rifle. Now that I think about it, I have two brothers who own handguns, and both of them chose a .380. Why, I don't know. Maybe that's what suited them best when they were shopping.

I've only shot a 9mm once in my life. It was when I had to qualify for my gun permit where I live. Since I'd never shot a 9mm before but knew I would have to shoot one for the qualifying exam, I googled the guns to understand how they operate. Alas, I didn't google how to load the magazine, so when the cop at my qualifying exam told me to load it, I had to tell him that I didn't know how. He rolled his eyes and loaded it for me. However, when I shot it, I surprised both him and me by putting 9 out of 10 into the target when only 7 out of 10 was required to pass. I learned then that the 9mm is pretty easy to shoot, which together with its sleeker profile and decent ballistics would make it a good carry gun.

However, I don't carry or want to. I'm the beside table and occasional trip to the range type. Revolvers are fine for me, and in my opinion, cooler than semiautomatics.

That bus left in 1971.

You be you and that is just fine.
When I carry which is becoming less frequently I carry my lowly, object of ridicule LCP.

I have yet to use in anger and I still remain unperforated.

If in that adrenalin dump moment when I have to use it if 7 rounds of ball doesn't get it done I have instructed Ruthie to log on here so you savants can tell her what I did wrong.

I own only one 9mm a S&W Tactical 3913TSW that was previously owned by Jerry Lewis. Nice little gun, came with in the original case with all the paperwork. It was purchased new by Jerry Lewis from Craven's Guns in Las Vegas and came with 3 Magazines.

Had an H&K P7 a long time ago. Was thinking of another but the prices are astronomical. I found a S&W 659 at an auction that was part of a group where the wife took all the magazines put them in a bucket and sold them for $50, Sounded insane but the pistol was immaculate. Picked up a couple of 17 round MagGar's and loaded them with 16 rounds each. Both functioned perfectly so I am set for spray and pray. Gun was more accurate than I thought, but the Marlin 44 MAG carbine is there for that purpose. Ammo prices have dropped considerably, 200 rounds for less than a C note made in the USA.
The H&K P7 was my holy grail gun... until I owned one. It was definitely not a range gun. The gas tube over the trigger would get so hot that shooting more than 1-2 mags would get rather uncomfortable, so I sold it.

I have a couple of 9mm guns now. My S&W 3953 is similar to your 659, although single-stack and DAO. I used to only like the SA/DA S&W pistols of that era, but the 3953 changed my outlook on DAO.

I own multiples and I like the cartridge a lot...Glock 17 and 19...Ruger, Taurus, S&W SD9, etc.

9mm ballistics have come a LONG way in the last 15 years...impressively so. In fact, improved 9mm has probably been the slow death of the .40 S&W.

My first 9mm was about 8 yrs ago. I bought a new Walther CREED. Absolutely the best “budget” 9mm you can buy. It’s to bad they discontinued it. Too much like the PPX models I guess. I bought it as a range toy and nightstand gun. About 3 yrs ago I bought a P365. It is my EDC. It is perfect in that roll. If not in NY I may have considered a Hell Cat with higher capacity…….. If carbines count. One of my favorite rifles is my original Ruger Police Carbine in 9mm.

!. Browning HP
2. S&W M639
3. S&W M659
4. Walther P-38-1943 Walther made
5. Star Model B-post war German police pistol
6. Ruger Old Model Blackhawk convertible/357/9MM
I read when the New Jersey State Police adopted the HK P7 they required a heat shield in the trigger guard so they could fire their qualification courses.

I only own 9mm and .380 in semi-auto calibers; more 9 than .380. I also own .38 spl, .357 mag, and .22lr.

I also own a Taurus Judge that was my late husband's but I've never shot it.

Up until a few years ago I did not have a 9mm. I did buy a RIA 9mm Compact, and began loading for it. It was a very serviceable and accurate easy to carry piece. About a year or 2 ago I did buy a Sig 365, and it really fits the bill. What cartridge do I usually take to the range and shoot? The .22 of course, as well as the .45 acp (in my 25-2) as well as my 1911's. Do I like the 9mm? Not as much as other calibers, but is is handy and the ammo is cheap.

I have a browning high-power with pacymyayr grips I bought about 45 years ago shot it three times and still looks like the day I bought it. I also have a beautiful stainless steel Taurus model 92 I bought about 25 years ago and shot one time. I do not shoot a lot of my guns, I buy them test then two or three times and put them away. I enjoy looking at my guns, it is like looking at art.
