I have also been baffled by people who are paranoid about posting full serial numbers. This is very common on the auction sites too. Do they actually think someone is going to file a false police report, sign a criminal complaint and then agree to show up in court and commit aggravated perjury under oath just to get your gun for free ? And the cops will never question as to how the gun was allegedly stolen by someone several states or hundreds of miles away ? I spent 27 years in law enforcement and handled hundreds of firearm theft cases. I never encountered an actual incident where someone saw a serial number online and then reported the firearm stolen. Sorry to get off on something other than what this thread is about but every time I see this silly paranoia it gets under my skin.
