22 Target Pistol Recommendations

I would second this comment, but will admit I acquired a Model 22A that I am very fond of as well!;)

Cheers!

I have an early S&W 22A that broke firing pins regularly every 20,000 rounds, had the frame cracked at 60,000 rounds, the hook from the sight rib break off and several other maladies in 110,00 rounds fired.

When it comes to inexpensive mainstream target pistols that last over 100,000 rounds, the Ruger Mk and FN 150 are ahead in the game, with the FN 150 having a much better trigger and great build quality.

If you're looking to stay on the less expensive end of the line, stay away from the S&W M&P 22 Compact. I bought one for the wife to plink with and it would NOT eject a single round. I had to manually rack the action for all 100 rounds I put through it. On top of that, the rear si knowght blew off within the first 15 rounds. I took it back and bought a Sig P322 (if allowed in your state). That is a sweet pistol. I also liked the Glock 44. All in the same price range of $380.00 to $409.00.
I don't know what was wrong with yours but mine has ran every type of 22 I've found except for subsonics but that's expected. It's the most reliable 22 handgun I've ever seen. I've never had an issue with the sights either.

I am looking for a 22 cal target pistol suggestion beyond the Model 41 S&W. I don't want an old High Standard. Any comments on the Ruger 22/45?

Thanks
S&W 46 or a new High Standard. Additionally we have a FAS, Pardini, Benelli, Hammerli (208), but a used Ruger MKII delivers a lot for how little they cost.

Ruger mk 1 bull barrel has excellent trigger.
Otherwise the mk2
Also the CZ Kadet

No target pistols here But I learned to shoot with a colt 6" huntsman as a 6 year old kid back in 1961 . I could not even guess at the 22lr that been fired but sure it's in the 100,000 rounds plus . It still all stock with a 2lb trigger break . I can no longer shoot it as good as I once could but my wife can . We use to be able compete but shooting 12ga hulls on stick at 25 yards . My wife typically beat me buy occasionally 8 our of 10 as possible by me . Still looks good for its age and usage too .

If you know the level of accuracy you desire, it is a great start..
For me, my suggestions are:
Ruger MK2 Target Slabside, an often suggested pistol..
and then a not so often suggested pistol..
Marvel 1911 22 conversion... guaranteed accuracy level from the factory.. mine is 0.681" at 50 YARDS.. they make better, but I am not capable of better.. precision beyond that is wasted on me..
