Looking at a 39-2 ,with 1 original magazine, and 2 after market magazines. No box,or paperwork. From the pictures I would rate it above 85%. Looking for some help on a fair price to offer.

The condition could be better than 85%. Looking at a picture, and according to the owner. It has some holster wear, and a few nicks. With the slide back, the barrel shows very little wear,so the condition could be better than 85%.

The 39 market has been a bit volatile in recent years. $400 is probably a good starting point.

Market in general is down.

I purchased a Model 39-2 brand new in 1973, paid $135. It was my 1st gun purchased after exiting the military. I still have it, box and all. Love the way it feels in my hand.

Yeah agree with the $400 figure with one mag. Bought one back in 74. $125-30 was the going rate for a new one then. Regretted letting it go and ended up with the CS-9 in 1999. Great all around guns I have always heard.

I had a 39-2 decades ago and was very fond of it. I wound up passing it my elder brother, decades ago. He owned one and loved it but burglars ripped it off. I've lately been watching for another one but it seem like for $400, you get a sow's ear, not a silk purse. Good fortune with yours, if you get it. They're nice pistols.

Looking at completed GB sales for blued 39-2 pistols where a sale actually occurred with multiple bids, there is a bit of a range. The bottom was $380 with another at $385. There were also examples at $405, $430, $454, $503, $635, $671, and $690. The later two included 2 magazines. The $635 was IMHO an outlier as it appeared to be in the most worn condition, with the rest being very good to excellent.

Averaging the single magazine sales (excluding the $635 example), the average is $426. When you include the two with multiple magazines the average is $490.

Original 39-2 magazines sell for around $40 each, but they are not real common and don't show up often. They are listed in the $75-$100 range but don't often sell for that amount. They are looking for owners who really want a spare mag.

After market mags sell for about half the price of a S&W.

I suspect the premium for the examples with two factory mags reflects a desire to have a 39-2 with two S&W magazines without having to look for a spare and perhaps wait weeks or months to find one, and then possibly have to pay $75-$100.

Based on actual sales as outlined above $425 is a reasonable floor, and $500 would not be over paying, given the spare after market magazines.
