Some of you may recall my thread from a couple years ago where I ordered a Registered Magnum from Guns.com and the gun I received had the barrel slightly set back but otherwise was a beautiful gun. Although not mentioned or pictured in the Guns.com listing, I also received the registration certificate and mailing tube for the RM!

Buying collectible or at least vintage guns from Guns.com continues to be an adventure. Last week I saw this listing on Guns.com…..

Based on the above lousy pictures of the gun, plus the Finish being described as “Wood and Stainless”, I determined that the gun was nickel. I also thought that it might be a fairly early gun based on the shape of the Magna grips. Since I have never owned a 3-1/2” nickel Pre-Model 27 I went ahead with the purchase which was slightly under $2K shipped. Today the gun arrived and this is what I got…..

It is a first year (1950) blue gun in about 98% original condition! There are a couple handling marks but overall it is a beautiful gun with matching Magna grips. It is definitely the same gun they pictured as I was able to compare a mark and chip on the right side grips and all of the screw slots lined up identical to their lousy pictures (if you’re going to check I tightened the top side plate screw before I took my pictures). Dealing with those people is always an adventure! Unfortunately no box came with the gun, but it is one nice shooter! So, even though it isn’t what I was expecting, I can’t say I’m unhappy with what showed up!

Nice! So glad it worked out. It doesn't always. Couple years ago I ordered an M1A1 carbine, specifically described as Inland (which was the only company of the nine who made the paratrooper version). When it got here it was NOT an Inland, and the stock was a repro. They whined and sniveled but when I sent them pictures of the ad and gun they caved.

It has such a bright, glossy finish. It must have been photographed under extremely bright lights that it made the gun look like a nickel finish. I would have been much happier with what arrived compared to advertised. That is one beautiful revolver!

Definitely a bit of a gamble and some anxiety I’m sure when purchasing something with those kind of pictures, it paid off indeed. I would’ve put money on a nickel gun for sure.
Nice revolvers in this thread and thanks for sharing.

I was seriously interested in something they have a while back, but they won’t ship to me. Now, I have to not look at their listings.

Oh, what might’ve been.
