I have a model 35-1 I picked up a while ago. It’s in really good condition, with the original stocks and factory box.

Serial number is 41371. Wondering what the year of manufacture or shipping was based on serial number. Also wondering if I should use it as a shooter or put it in the back of the safe. General value?IMG_2149.jpegIMG_2152.jpegIMG_2151.jpegIMG_2150.jpeg

There is a boxed and complete 34-1 in high condition on an auction site I frequent that's at $1255 with 4 days left. I'd expect it to finish at $1500-$1600.

The serial number you mention does not match the one on the box. But both are in the 41,000 range which indicates early 1970’s.
I have a similar Model 34 no dash, and I would be hard pressed to make it a shooter - it resides in the safe.

I just bought a high condition 2" pre 34 for about half what I expect that 35-1 I'm watching to sell for.

I didn't know they were that desirable. I'd love to own one but at that price I can just make due with a K22 or three.

Yeah, I noticed the serial number mismatch. I assumed that would drop the value a lot, but I bought it to shoot, not collect. Great little revolver that’s beggin to be shot.

I’ll probably use it to teach my grandchildren to shoot. Seven of my eight grandkids have yet to learn to shoot. Couple of them are ready. Good summertime activity for this July.

Has a few blemishes in finish, a turn Line and some high spot and muzzle end wear. Just enough to say shoot the pants off it. With reasonable care in transport and shooting you are not going to add appreciable wear to the degree you will de- value it.
I am not a safe queen guy- even my antiques get shot a few times a year. I had a 60’s era 17 in about that condition when I bought it used, and I ran over 100 thousand rounds through it while it was in my possession ( judicious cleaning not going bonkers with brushes and solvents) and transport to and from the range in a bullseye box or gun rug, and when I let it go ( for triple what I paid for it) it didn’t look a bit different than when I first got it

The original front sights did not have anything red on them, they were solid blue.
