Hi all,

I've stumbled upon a S&W 625-5 Classic, 45 Colt. Full underlug 5" barrel. One of 1550 units produced according to my research. This one has aftermarket grips, no box and is in about 90% condition. Definitely shot, some bluing loss on the front sight, lock up is good, gun is pretty clean except for one minor ding. Its a shooter, not a collector.

I have whittled the seller down to $1150 out the door. Good price, fair price or pass?

Holy crap! That's perfect! You stole that. My seller is asking $1499 and I've gotten him down to $1150 out the door but it isn't quite as clean and doesn't have the silver medallion Hogue grips.

Buy!!!
You won’t see another one anytime soon. In my book, $1150 is a steal!

I have two 625-5s, but they’re from an exclusive run of 48 for Accusport. The only difference is the cylinder is blue, kind of a pinto.

Additionally, the grip that came on this example is a one off monogrip from Hogue, made from gaboon ebony.

Great find. I have several 45 Colt S&Ws. I have almost pulled the trigger a few times on the SDS model. My only complaint on that era of Smiths (Mountain Gun too) is the shallow laser engraving. Just doesn’t look as nice as the roll marking.

Congrats OP. Not many that appear that nice in that price range. Excellent choice in my opinion. Enjoy it!

You picked up a nice one. Congratulations. I have one also. I have never shot it but it has been shot but very little. It's near perfect with the original box with the correct label and a letter about it from King Roy. 625-5.jpeg

I picked up the same gun but with the box, unfortunately not the original grips but at $1100. Prices appear to be coming down some but still a hard find and 45 colt is a damn good cartridge.

As long as we're talking interesting 625's in .45 Colt, here's one I stumbled upon, a 625-7. Research shows only 308 of these were made (is it any wonder - who needs a Power-Port on a .45 Colt?)
