While on deployment, Josh ordered a Tesla and was going to pick it up this afternoon. There was an issue with one of the tire pressure sensors that couldn’t be resolved before tomorrow, so they gave him a cyber truck as a courtesy vehicle to use in the meantime. We’ve been cruising around Jacksonville all afternoon in it. While I wouldn’t own one, I have to admit it’s a pretty neat ride and acceleration is very impressive for such a heavy vehicle.

I haven't driven or ridden in one, but they seem to be popular even here in oil country. I see them often. Lots of other Teslas, too. There's no Tesla store here, but they"re supposedly building one now, so we'll probably be seeing them more often soon.

Oh, yeah, I'm going to weigh in...

Not a fan. Like or hate the aesthetic, the technology, or anything else about it the Cybertruck is what you get when you let people with no practical experience designing a pickup truck design a pickup truck. Of all the things I could mention (and they are myriad), I will raise only one here: No pickup truck should ever have a cast aluminum alloy frame!

Nobody that buys one uses it as a pickup truck. Most they haul is groceries or takeout.

Hand me a Registered Magnum LNIB and a duffel bag full of cash and the greatest extent of involvement I'll have with these rolling laughinstocks would still be all of pi$$ing on the tires.

apparently caught the eye of the neighbor across the street.
what did they think of it?
Yeah, we all saw that later when we were looking at the picture and thought it was pretty funny…looks like something out of a horror movie. They just moved in and haven’t met any of the neighbors yet.

Everywhere we went in it, there was a lot of gawking. Like I said in my first post, I definitely would not buy one, I think they look hideous. Back when I first saw them, I was thinking the design looked like something from one of those ‘60s budget sci-fi movies where you would see the same props used in several productions.

It was fun riding around town in, though.

I had to do a double take last week when a Cyber truck pulled up to the gas pumps. Turns out he was just filling a gas can, but still looked kinda funny. I guess he hadn't gone the electric mower route yet.
The charging was a lot quicker than I expected. They gave it to him with a little over 50% and we ran it down to 12%. Pulled in to a Wawa with a line of superchargers, plugged it in, and in about 15 minutes we were above 60%.

I get looks and lots of questions. It holds a lot. Loading pallets no problem. The bed cover is handy and the 4 wheel steering makes it turn on a dime for such a long vehicle. The self driving is amazing. Very roomy and comfortable inside. Ground clearance is impressive in off-road mode.cyberbeast.jpg

I’m Pro electric vehicles. And I enjoy antiques from padlocks to pistols (S&Ws) and Pre War pickup trucks. The fuel (gasoline) tank on a 1960 s pickup truck is mounted IN the cab BEHIND the DRIVERS SEAT. Bad idea,, but
Humans are SLOW LEARNERS!

Actually I saw a motorcycle (unknown) in the cargo area of a cyber truck,, just the other day. Something I hadn’t seen before,, “in the WILD.”

And some people do use them as pickup trucks....Guess I'm hauling cow groceries.....

I watched the Tucker Carlson video that Jimmyjones posted. The man doing the week long test was impressed with the cybertruck overall, but not the efficiency or lack thereof. If hauling a trailer, he calculated the range of the truck at around 100 miles before needing a charge. Also, it was warm weather while he was testing it. He voiced the desire to test it in cold weather.

Doing the math, calculating the cost of energy and the length of charge time, he figured it was the equivalent of 15 mpg while towing if it was a gasoline engine.

As a driver in fair weather, he liked it, but not for a dependable year-round work truck.

I'm keeping my F250 for the foreseeable future.

Just today in the local newspaper they commented that for some reason our little part of the world has a high amount of those ugly Tesla sort of trucks. Its getting to the point when driving on the interstate I see at least one most days. Lets face it their hard to miss!

To each his own I guess, as for me if I want something that looks like it came off the Star Ship Enterprise shuttlecraft deck, as a tribute I would get one.
