RIP S&W 67

You people are just despicable, shameless enablers. I just bought mine off Gun Broker @ 4:16 PM because of these posts. It will complement my other K-frame 4" revolvers.

EDIT: My 'new to me' M67-1 finally arrived at my dealer by way of oxcart from FL to GA in only 10 days. It was $519 out the door in my hot little hand.

Here's my 67-1 that I bought early 2020. Haven't had a chance to shoot it yet.

First of all, Happy New Year.

Last month I spoke with the European representative of S&W and he told me that the models 64 and 67 would be removed from the catalog at the beginning of the year.

Tomorrow morning I'll try to talk to an armory in another province that has a second-hand one. The one I teach in the photos.

The price is not exactly attractive, but that model here is a "rara avis", and for what I want it, I could do my best.

I don't really like the way the hammer looks. I find it too dirty, old for this revolver, as does the hike.
Let's see what they tell me tomorrow.

Greetings

I have a 67-6 that looks just like the one you pictured. Came with both the original factory grips and a set of Chrimson Trace laser grips. Even with the lock it is still one of the best shooting 38's I own.

Sure glad I got mine, not sure on the dash # but it has everything but the funky barrel face. Wears a set of Osage Orange Culina Combats and has been worked over by Frank Glenn to be a prized revolver that I love to shoot.

These guns will sell all day long!

It has to be really tough these days to sell a revolver chambered for .38 when a similar-sized .357 is available. Sure, the owner may never fire .357 Mag ammo, but they'll say to themselves "but if I want to, I can".

There are any number of us that can appreciate what they are and will scoop them up all day long. They go quick and for good money.

I had a 2" Model 15-3 that thought it was a target pistol and not a snubby.
That thing could really walk the dog and kick the cat.

It's a shame that the Model 67 never made it to a snubby. At least I've never seen one.

If I ever have the financial resources, I'm going to have a Model 15 or 67 cut down to a 3 inch and round butted!

Hello BC38
Enjoy it. When I called the armory someone had booked it just before the holidays so I'll have to keep waiting for the miracle
¡¡¡LOL!!!

Greetings.

I bought one of the new ones. For some reason I was thinking they still had tapered barrels. Although well built, I couldn't stand it. I sold it in favor of an older pinned 67. I think I have at least 12 of the new Smiths and that is the only Smith I have sold.
I have a Model 67. From what i researched, it is vintage 1979 so I'massuming it'sa Dash 2 or 3. I'mnot good with Dashes yet lol. It has a tapered barrel with Black rubber pachmayr grips. It's a beautiful piece of art. I haven't shot it yet but i hope to soon as i get a chance. I'm keeping this one forever.

Mine was a duty gun somewhere as evidence by the rack number stamped on the side. At some point it was acquired by the Armored Car company I worked for and then by me when they were getting rid of old revolvers in favor of a company wide issue of new model 65s. It was in pretty sad shape but my gunsmith revived it and freshened with a bead blast which I like. He was able to remove some pencil engraved markings. A pair of Cocobola Hogue’s from their auction site (miss that) and it’s an awesome shooter.

Picked up these two on recent trip. Had been looking for a 67 to fill in my stainless collection. One of the nastiest revolvers I’ve bought. Missing the hammer block too but have extras so no issue. Did a stoning of hammer and trigger so SA is very good. Will do a little more to improve action. Bottom of cylinder release looked like a grater and had marked side of frame so about 20 minutes fixed that.
M&P is 4th version by serial number and looks not to have been shot much as function is excellent and shows holster wear wish it could talk as sure it has an interesting history. M&P will be earliest S&W in collection, need a Mdl.12 2” to fill in snub collection.

Not a surprise, I can not imagine a huge market for them, considering the availability of model 65 66 and 686. I hate new production guns and detest stainless myself. I like old school polished blue. I usually get interested when the gun is a minimum of 40 years old. I am actually surprised they still make the model 10! That might be an icon heritage thing they will never discontinue. I see no sense whatsoever to buy a new lock mim $900 K frame when with a little searching you can find two old ones fir the same cost

I like the format quite a bit, at least the older ones with tapered barrels. I'm shocked .38 SPL only has survived this long in any format.

I would like to see the K frames models (10, 15, 64, 67) beefed up to L frames. I recently decided to go back to .38/.357 revolvers. But I’ve had to accept that my hands can’t take the recoil of even .38 ammo. When I was pricing ammo for the revolvers, I was finding that .357 was cheaper than .38 Special in comparable brands and loads. It’s back to metal frame 9mm’s for me. My Hi Power will become my primary carry for now.

But I do lament the passing of these old work horses! For many, whether as a range tool/hiking companion or a home defense weapon, wheel guns are very viable options. Time and technology marches on!!!!

Well to follow up from my 2021 post. Read this thread the other day and just a few days later stumbled upon a mismarked 67-3 on an oddball dot com. Was marked as a 67-8 but obviously wasn't. Good price, needs a bit of cleaning up and a new sight slide but action/carry up is great. I am a lefty so if a gun carries up good for me it is awesome right-handed. Don't know why I always wanted one, just liked the wide rib better. I don't shoot the ones we got when we retired but glad I have it now. Yanked the goodyears it came with off and put some round butts and a Tyler T on it. I like the feel of that set up. Not sure I will leave it that way. I will shoot it a few times then clean it up and put it away. They are hard to find. glad I finally have one. Photo of it and a 19-7 round butt.
