625-6 MT Gun 45 ACP ? yes no maybe?

I made the mistake of passing on a pair of no lock MG"s 45acp ans 45lc a couple of years ago because of no box'a or paperwork, The collector who had them offered them to me a $1060 apiece out the door. When I passed he put them on GB and they went for average of $1500 each. My mistake as I haven't been able to find either at anywhere near a reasonabe price. Good luck in your decision.
Ps. 45acp is my preference with full moons they are awesome for competition.

A 625-4 Springfield Armory Commemorative (4" light barrel .45ACP) is a mountain gun, just not marked or marketed that way. A mountain gun is simply a light-weight barrel that used to be affixed to all .44 & .45 N frames prior to when the .44 magnum came out. Nothing special. The nomenclature "mountain gun" gets folks excited to buy, a marketing scheme to sell more product. Here is me 625-4 SA Commem 45ACP...

IMNSHO, the M625 Mountain Gun in .45 ACP is the best fighting revolver ever built. Lighter in weight, chambered in a serious caliber and lightning fast to reload, using full moon clips. I have one & mine ain't for sale!
My CCL qualification revolver is a 625-8 for the above reasons, except it's not light. When I find a 625 MG in 45 ACP for a rational price, I'll buy it, because 'one is none.'

My Shield 2.0 in 45 is the semi-auto CCL qualification pistol.

The NM CCL rule is that you can carry any firearm up to the largest caliber with which you qualify, both revolver then separately with semi-auto.

Is the Springfield Armory commemorative in this price range also? I found one at a gunshop for $400 because they said it wasn't considered a Mt gun. To me it is a mountain gun just with the SA marking on it. It is a joy to shoot and very easy to carry. Not selling just curious if it is or is not a MG.
The Lew Horton 625-4 Springfield Armory was a run of 500 guns from the Performance Center. I paid $490 (years ago) for mine brand new in the box from a dealer who could not unload it for over a year. I think the ugly gold logo on the side plate made it difficult to sell ! Great looking gun if you ignore the bling on the right side ! I cast and load .45 Auto-Rim for mine.

There is one aspect of the .45ACP 625-4 Springfield Armory model that is often missed. The 500 Lew Horton guns were produced in the Performance Center in 1994 and equipped with forged hammers and triggers.

And incredibly enough, the 625-6 (dash SIX!!) .45 colt were blessed with forger hammer & trigger!

Ken: It is indeed interesting that the 625-6 Mountain Gun (1996) snuck through with forged hammer and trigger and a -6 designation since the -6 Production change (1997) actually called for MIMM components !

Its waiting for me to say yes, not sure what the current value is. Thoughts? No box or docs, needs a good cleaning and a little tlc. The action is solid and timing is as well.
If you buy the gun, get yourself a few hundred .45 Auto Rim cases from Starline. With the .45 ACP moon clips you can’t do a partial cylinder reload without dumping unfired ammo on the ground. The 2 and 3 round clips are a little better, in that respect.

All mountain guns were marked on the barrel old/new ones. They feature a tapered 4” barrel which is the most noticeable feature. The original series I feel were more of a working gun as they had a positive grip rubber composite and the new ones are smooth wood profiled by Tyler gun works with their signature bear hug grip.
The first original was marked "Mountain Revolver".

Ya, I will revisit it this week and give it a second look over. Usually I take a bunch of pics on first look then go through them while at home. Pics allow me to zoom in on things I might have missed. Stay tuned.

It's likely no longer there. If it is and you don't want it, please send me the shop's contact info and I'll take it.

625-6 S.N. CDZ9766 any approximate date. I’m not used to the alpha #s . Believe me I’ve tried but I don’t see too much info on these. Any help is appreciated. Thanks
