Pictures would help. Crane number does not matter, what we call an assembly number. With the low serial number I am thinking 1917. Someone may be along with better knowledge.

and those who are into the correct terms, prefer that when speaking S&W you call it the yoke instead of a crane. Crane is correct when speaking Colt
January 1918.
