When a news article mentions someone has been found with an "arsenal", it usually consists of a version of the following once pictures and video is released:

1) Many Airsoft guns
2) A black Amazon load bearing vest with a lot of pockets and molle attachments
3) A Rossi revolver or three
4) Numerous Hi-Point pistols
4) A couple of black crossbows

and possibly a Palmetto AR-15 with 5269 Magpul 30 rounders that they bought on lay-a-way at their local Academy Sports
 
My daughter and son in law, not anti firearms but not firearms people, visited me several years ago so of course I showed them my firearms and reloading equipment which at the time consisted of 30+ firearms and a couple presses.
She said, "Holy S**t you have your own arsenal and an ammo factory". Told told her that in Wyoming my setup is considered hobby shooter - reloader level. :rolleyes:

Reminds me of the time in HS when a friend of mine would go Woodchuck hunting after school (sometimes during!).
His car or mine, we switched off.
(He had a hopped up 62 Ford, I had a dullard of a 60Chev.)

We had mine this fine day along with 25 assorted long guns in the back seat.
We used to try just about everything on Woodchucks which were a crazy population in the area we hunted them.

Spotting a few in a (winter wheat?) field we exited the car and each took a rifle, walked out into the field a ways so we were not shooting from the road (a no-no_
Taking pot shots at the various chucks, we were alerted from behind us on the road by a quick siren blip.
An NYSP marked car had pulled up.

He motioned for us to return and we did of course, clearing our guns first.
He asked who's car it was and I responded, he checked my lic and reg.
Then he looked in the car and the pile of guns was obvious.

'These all yours?'
Yes we replied with Beaver Cleaver grins.
"Can I look them over?"
Sure.. go ahead, they are all unloaded and actions open.

He opened the back door of the Chev and rummaged through the guns. Being careful with them through.

He then said "Nice bunch of guns there"
We agreed and a little more small talk and he simply said..'Be careful,,watch where those shots might end up".

Off he went.

A 16y/o and a 17y/o with around 25 guns in the car and a simple,,'Be careful'.

Not in todays world I don't think.

I was older than that but the city dump was where I learned to shoot, too.

Same here in the Philly suburbs… You could see William Penn's hat from the end of our street, and no one cared an 8 year old was riding his bike through town with a rifle over the handlebars.
 
in the early 2000s time magazine did an article about the cheapness of AR rifles.. and accessories. They used AIRSOFT guns for their proof of 20$ "fully automatic weapons"
