Was reloading some 44 mags yesterday and ended up cruching several cases because the case mouths weren't belled. Using Dillon dies and I don't have any issues with cast bullets but jktd bullets really give me grief. Any of you guys use Dillon dies as well and have the same issue? Any idea if they are able to bell case mouths? I read the papers that came with them and it's not mentioned.

On a Dillon 550B the powder measure bells the case mouth before dropping the powder. If you're using a progressive loader than the powder measure is not screwed in low enough.

It would seem as though you're using a single stage press with only the sizing die, bullet seater and crimp die

I this is the case then you will need a die for expanding the case mouth.
I just looked on
44 Special/44 Magnum - RCBS 3-Die Carbide Profile Crimp Set, 44 Mag/ 44 Special
The RCBS standard die set has a die for the case mouth

What type of press and dies do you have?

I'm running a Lee hand press and Dillon dies, i'll try running the die down a bit further. Thanks!

To flare/bell a case mouth with Dillon dies you need their powder die, powder funnel and a powder measure.
The empty case forces powder funnel up into die to actuate the powder measure, while funnel slips into case to bell it. At same time measure dumps a load of powder into the case.
Hopefully I can post a pic.
As you can see the powder funnel is sticking out the bottom of the powder die. The case mouth slips over the bottom of the funnel and pushes it up to actuate everything. A step on the funnel flares the case mouth at the end of the stroke. Adjustments for amount of flare is made by raising or lowering the powder die.

Hopefully this helps.

No, you are not boned. You just need to buy a Lee Universal case expanding die. It will work with all calibers.
