10.4 italian bodeo cartridge

It's listed in "Cartridges of the World," in its many editions, as the 10.4mm Italian Revolver.

"Developed for the Italian Model 1874 service revolver, but also used in the Glisenti Model 1889 reolver, it sometimes listed as the 10.35 Italian Revolver or 10.35 Glisenti. Black and smokeless powder ammunition is encountered. Both of the above revolvers have been sold from time to time to surplus stores.

"The 10.4 Italian cartridge is another one similar to the .44 S&W Russian. I twould be an effective short-range, self defense or small game hunting number.
Lyman cast bullet #421183 (225 grs.) cann be used for loading. Backed by 3.0 grains of Bullseye, it will deliver about 700 fps. These old guns are not intended for high pressures, so stick to moderate loads."

Factory black powder military load employed a 177 gr. lead bullet at 735 fps.
The factory smokeless powder load used the same 177 gr. bullet at 810 fps.

Gad Custom Cartridges sells 10.4 Italian cartridges, which it custom makes: $30 for 50. Gad will probably sell you the bullets and cases too.

Amazing, find two threads on the S&W Forum the day I buy one! The other is in the lounge.
