Anyone know where I might find these (140 gr semi jacketed bullets, hollow points or soft point) in stock?
Have used these in the past in both .38 spe. and .357 mag. Like them a lot, but cannot find them in stock at the places I have looked.

You are probably talking about the Speer 146gr #4205 as well as the Speer 160gr #4223 bullets that were semi-jacked swc lead tips.............that were discontinued.
You might find them at garage sales,Gun shows or E-bay but that is a long shot.
Note: if anyone has these bullets loaded and tries to pull them...........Don't. The lead will come out leaving the jacket still in the case.

I have several boxes of Sierra 140 gr. SJHPs. I don't know if they are still available though.

My 686 6", loves the Hornady 140gr XTP in 38 cases with RedDot,GreenDot,Unique and even 8.0grs of BlueDot, with velositys from 877 to 955fps.

Even my snub nose with RedDot can put 5@ .87" at ten feet with this bullet but I do not think this bullet will open up with just 838 fps, from all the test that I have seen with the xtp.
It is one of the better deep penetrating bullets but this is due to lack of mushrooming.......... but 218 ft/lb of energy is not too shabby. Might make a heck of a rabbit load, though.

My 19 and 686 mags liked the 160 speer pushed with 8.0grs of Unique powder.
This has a velosity of 1230fps with 537 ft/lbs in a 6" and will take a 277 pound Nevada Mule deer at 75 yards with one shot, placed behind the shoulder at center line.
It will group 4@ .65 inches at 25 yards with iron sights in the new 686.

Nevada Ed, I have one box of each of those discontinued Speer bullets. I bought them at an estate auction in a lot with some other types of .357 bullets. The two boxes I have are old, still in cardboard boxes. I haven't loaded any, as I'm afraid they'll leave the jackets in the bore.
