There are some really down to earth videos (a 5 set series) that you can Google.

"HORNADY LNL-AP PRESS SET-UP HINTS AND TRICKS"

Some folks have problems with the press because they are not real mechanically inclined or just can't read and follow instructions.

These videos were made by a down to Earth easy going fellow in Idaho who even makes mistakes like the rest of us do sometimes.

He doesn't get upset and throw things, he just corrects himself or the problem and moves on.:)

He covers the complete set-up and TRICKS to make the press really sing if you happen to own the LNL-AP press.:)

The VIDS are worth a look, especially if you own the press.

Ultimatereloader makes some good videos/parts too and Inlinefabrication make some great parts/accessories for presses also.

NO FIGHTING PLEASE, as RED along with BLUE make very fine reloading presses and both have wonderful customer service.

There is also a video out there,

"CALIBRATING THE HORNADY LNL-AP AND LNL CLASSIC (HD)"

This video shows you how to measure the WORKING HEIGHT DIFFERENCE between the two presses.

With that difference known BETWEEN YOUR TWO LNL PRESSES

you can make or have made a SPACER BUSHING that you install under

the LNL INSERT in the Classic Single Stage Press.

The addition of this bushing EQUALIZES the WORKING HEIGHT

between the LNL-AP Shell plate and the Classic's Shell Holder.

This TRICK allows for LNL die swaps between YOUR two Hornady presses without a die adjustment.:)

Watched "HORNADY LNL-AP PRESS SET-UP HINTS AND TRICKS, Part 1" and said to myself "Geez, 40 MINUTES ?". Sighed and started . . . and watched him cause/experience pretty much every malfunction I've had on the AP . . . and then identify the cause and the solution, clearly.

But I literally burst out laughing when, in "HORNADY LNL-AP PRESS SET-UP HINTS AND TRICKS, Part 2" he showed me the simple trick to attach the primer spring without a needle-nose pliers or a dental pick! How stupid of me not to figure that out myself lol.

Yeah, they could be done in 25% of the time, but the videos - the first two for sure - were worth the time for me.

Twoboxer,

I caught an O-RING size error he made, for the smaller one to keep tension on the

Powder Measures Linkage SHOULDER BOLT, he call out a 1.5mm x 1.9mm o-ring.

He actually meant a 5.8mm x 1.9mm one, as I PM'D him on the other forum he mentions.

(aprox .232 I.D. x .070 Cross Section)
to stretch over the 1/4 shoulder Bolt for the added tension.

I haven't watched the videos, but I STRONGLY advise the use of one of the add-on LED light strips to the inside of the press head. It really helps you catch any powder charge variation.

bbqncigars,

inlinefabrication makes nice STRIP LED LIGHT setups for presses and safes.

He now has a new "SKYLIGHT" for Dillon 550 and 650 presses along with one for the Hornady LNL-AP.

He makes an ULTRAMOUNT for presses, 3/16" steel.

They also make Roller "ERGO" Handles.

Shipping included in prices and QUICK SERVICE.

They make some really nice stuff.

I watched the calibrating video and ordered the Hornady bushing conversion kit for my Rockchucker. I could not find any washer with a 11/2" opening. However I did find Conduit Locknut with that size opening in the electrical section at Lowes. It came with two locknuts (look like washers). I am going to work with these when the bushing kit arrives and see if I can calibrate the RCBS with the Hornady LNL AP.

thanks for the link. This will be very useful if I can get this done.

gojones,

The Spacer you make needs to be the EXACT THICKNESS that your TWO PRESS HAVE.

Follow the Videos instructions to get YOUR difference.

The thickness needs TO BE EXACT as measured with A MICROMETER or A DIAL CALIPER. (Precision and FLAT).

Good Luck.

Yes, I have both the micrometer and dial calipers and will measure just like in the video. However, I do not have a lathe. I will use a bench grinder and maybe an O-Ring if necessary to get both exact as I can. I will get back and let you know how it works out.

Thanks again Moonman.
