Has anyone reloaded the AR 10 308 with either of these powders Win 743, Hogdon BL-C2 of Hogdon 4895?
I use a 150 grain Hornady bullet boat tail.
How do you like the loads.

I don't own an AR-10 but I shoot my friends AR-10 often. He loads for it and he likes a 150gr bullet in the .308, especially for a semi-auto. When building .308 ammo for a bolt action rifle I like IMR4064 but he uses BL-C(2) for his semi-auto .308 ammo and it works very well. Being a ball powder it also meters very well so loading goes very smoothly. There is nothing wrong with the other 2 powders you mentioned either and in reality W748 is very close to the performance of BL-C(2).

All three powders listed will do a great job in .308....I have used many 8 lb kegs of IMR 4895 and AA 2460/2520 in my M1A when I shot NRA Service Rifle matches.

Load for a Rock River 16 incher, 1;10 twist. Settled on 748 and CCI 34 primer, but get better accuracy with 165 grain bullet and above. A lot depends on your particular rifle, how much gas volume it gets and barrel twist. H4895 also worked well, but didn't like hand weighing each charge.

Never tried the BL-C2, but would expect it works well also.

My slower twist 308 semi's (FAL's/M1A's) like the lighter bullets much better.

W748 is my fave for my M&P 15 loads but can't help ya - IMR 4064 is my powder of choice for the M&P 10. I've read W748 works quite well in 7.62 so you have the makings to start. You meant 748 not 743 I'm sure. Good luck!

I LOAD AN AR-10T 7.62. I GET 1/2 MOA 5 SHOT GROUPS WITH WW748 & IMR4064 WITH 168GR BULLETS. I WOULD SUGGEST YOU THINK ABOUT TRYING IMR3031 WITH 150 GR LOADS.

Re: OP. I will keep this brief. I have shot a lot of .308 Winchester in a number of rifles. In every single rifle I've ever used, WW-748 w/ 150, 165 and 168 gr. bullets gave superlative results. In heavy barreled rifles this powder would with good bullets produce eye popping groups. In my M-1 Garand rifles, this powder w/ bullets suited to the distance being fired produced results that were unexcelled. JMHO. Sincerely. brucev.

I just started reloading 308 for a M1a and it came down to what powder I could find, not so much what I wanted. Found some WC846 for a decent price and so far happy with the results with 150gr. FMJBT's. Supposedly WC846 is military pull down equivalent of BLc2. Did a bunch of research and found a bunch of powders that work well in 308 semi-auto's.

In my experience ( bolt gun ) 150's shot best with IMR or H 4895 or RS Tac . 165 / 168's shot best with BL-C2 . Barrel was 1 in 12 . Win 748 , IMR 4064 & 4320 , RL 15 , AA 2520 are also known for 308 accuracy . Just depends on what the rifle wants as like people they're different .

The 30-06 is close to the .308 and I like 4895 powder. Not only does it make a good low to medium rifle load, it is versatile as can be. What I like about it is that it can be reduced by 30% to get plinker loads of about 2200 fps. Loads like that won't work the semi action but they sure are fun to shoot.

I use the IMR 4895 with the CCI NATO #34 primers in all my semi auto reloading. The burn rate of this powder is exactly correct for the finicky powder cycle rate surplus rifles too.

One must lower the powder charge when using the cci #34 NATO primers there about 1 1/2 Times hotter than standard primers. Read your fired primer in the case after you fire it. A flattened primer in the case will say the charge is too high. As you adjust the powder charge the accuracy will improve too.
