Default Bulls Bag Shooting Rest

Well my wife surprised me yesterday, and ordered the shooting rests that I had been eyeing on Amazon. Last year I had picked up a Caldwell Stable Table for shooting my rifles, and didn't have any good rests, and they aren't meant for bipods. So I had been searching for awhile and the Bulls Bag X7 system really interested me with the variety of configuration options, as well as the carry set up. Figured it also help with teaching my boys to shoot. Anyone have any experience with the Bulls Bag rests?

I've been using the 15" bench model for I don't know how long - 20 years? It's an excellent bag for non-30 round magazine type rifles and I've used it extensively for pistol sighting in as well. Simply holds up with no surprises. Does what it's supposed to. I would imagine the X7 will live up to your expectations. Good luck!

Webfarmer, did you fill yours with kitty litter? Trying to decide what to fill them with, when they arrive.

I used silica sand as it is clean and dust free, weighs in at about 40#.

I shoot rifles a lot and I've had one of the original Bulls Bags rests since they first came on the market. Don't know if what is available now is the same configuration that I have, but I've never found the rest comfortable or very useful to shoot from. I much prefer an old Hart pedestal rest with a Protektor leather bag for a rear rest.

Dunno if this will help, but when I couldn't get sand from Walmart NOW I used Aquarium gravel from Petsmart to fill a Caldwell (tall) rear bag. Been using it for a year and been happy with it for use in a rear bag.

(The spout on that bag is tiny; had to force a straw in to get the material in the bag . . . slowly. Hope the Bulls Bag is better designed lol.)

Thanks for the info raisedin99 and TwoBoxer. I know the manufacturer recommends kitty litter, but when I went to check options I was amazed at how many choices there were for cats to go to the bathroom. Guessing if the fill spouts are big enough for granuled kitty litter, sand won't be too difficult.

Novalty, If I remember correctly, I filled it with clean play sand (same as silica mentioned above possibly?). Seems that what I did. She's heavy and at my age the shoulder strap is a God's send. But it holds its shape quite well!

Maybe it's what you get used to. Mine was used mostly for long range bolt action rifle shooting all these years with pistol thrown in and it seems to have worked for me anyway. Now that "black" rifles intrigue me, I'm quite interested in their AR version. I'll have to look up the Hart pedestal.

I've heard good things about the Hart pedestal too, as well as the Dog-Gone Good bags. As much as I would prefer to buy a guaranteed US made bag $90/ea is too rich for my blood.

If memory serves me, I believe I used a long neck transmission funnel to fill mine. Probably been 20 years or better since I did it.

Yeah, I got one of those at Walmart - but no sand as I said lol - and the aquarium gravel wouldn't fit through the funnel. Sand, kitty litter, walnut tumbler media all will go through just fine.
