Hello
After the dismal performance of those 180gr plated bullets,

Still looking at these new powders, Sport Pistol, IMR Target, 244 and Winchester 572, I assembled some more test rounds with some real 180gr FMJ bullets from NE Shooters Supply.
Again, if you would like to see what the powders look like close up;

Since there has been some discussion about Red Dot, I loaded up some rounds just to see where Red Dot fits in. Also some Green Dot just for kicks.
And of course, some favorite hand loads.

All the 5.3 grn loads are neck and neck pretty much, and they duplicate the American Eagle 180gr FMJ factory load.
6.8 grs 572 looks pretty good. No pressure signs. Recoil is very snappy though with this one.
Red Dot did ok at 5.6. 5.9 was too warm so I didn’t shoot the rest. Not bad for an old war horse.

Green Dot is ok but kinda slow. Although the 5.9grn load duplicated the REM-UMC 180gr factory load.

But the best group of the day was 5.6 grs IMR Target. IMR Target is proving itself to be a great performer, not only here but in the 10mm and .38 Special. I’m confident it will perform well in other cartridges also.

My hand loads were shot last, so I think I was getting tired.

With the notable exceptions, everybody did ok, nothing terrible.. A lot better than the plated bullets did.
Here is an updated graph. Everything shot on 11-24 is in red.

Hopefully this will provide some idea of what to expect out of these new powders.
