I've been wondering where Sgt Preston has been. He used to be pretty consistent on posting and hasn't been active since the first of the month.

Anyone heard tell where he is?

I have been wondering the same thing for a few weeks. I haven't heard too much from Sarge since some if his posts about the casing sorter that he and a buddy were working on.
How 'bout it Sarge, any input? It would be nice to hear from you!

I was thinking of him also. I found his replies very helpful. Maybe he got "lost" in the transition to the new software. Maybe send him a PM??

I share your concern about the Sarge. I know he lives in Perry Hall MD but not sure about his actual name. If anyone can PM me with that info, I have family in the Baltimore area that can look him up.

Frank

Found Him!

Well,

The long and the short of it is: He is doing well and enjoying retirement! He is as busy as every, working at not working! :)

His brass separation gizmo seems to work well and he is doing a bunch of brass each week.

At any rate, he has lost some interest in the forum since the software change and alloted dedicated time has ceased since he isn't in his old work schedule.

PM's won't work as he hasn't been checking the forum much.

That dear friends is our loss, to be sure. Sgt Preston, you are top notch in my book and are a greatly missed asset to this forum. Come home whenever you get a chance, dear friend!

Semper Fi!

I'm really sorry to hear this. Sarge was a steady hand and a good source of information on my favorite guns and calibers.

Frank

Dang Sarge............you need to get your priorities straight.

C'mon back and rattle some cages again.

Know that your valuable input is missed.

He really helped me out with my loads when I picked up my pc 945. Thanks Sarge and come back soon.

Hi everybody I'm back. This retirement stuff is really much more time consuming than I could have imagined. I have been guilty of NOT stopping by too often. When I was working I logged into the forum before work & during lunch. My job "went away" in December & I have been busier than ever been. What I have been doing is sorting 1200-1600 pounds of used range brass for a buddy each week which he sells on the internet & at gunshows. And I've been going to the gym more times per week. Today I was at Elk Neck State Park helping a buddy sight in his new Marlin 357 lever action rifle with a Luepold scope. I also bought a new Ford Ranger on Memorial day weekend & a new S&W SSR686 revolver a while back & a new SA 1911 x 9mm at the first of the year. And then there are the usual painting & remodelling projects that I simply couldn't get to when I was working. And since I'm retired & Barbara is still working, I do 95% of the cooking & washing & vacuuming, etc. And the few times that I looked at the forum recently, I didn't have any expertise on the topics being discussed. So thank you all for your concerns, but I'm alive & well & still kicking. I will try to check in more frequently. Semper Fi & thanks for the call on Sunday Skip!

The Sarge is back!

All is right with the world. ;)

Seriously, I'm glad you are OK and doing well. I have a friend whose wife is about to become states attorney for Kent Cty. I was about to launch a search you know.:D

All the best,

Frank

Great to hear from you Sarge!

So glad that you plan on checking in on us every once in awhile.

Sounds like you're sorting your cheeks off, that seems to have been going for some time now.

Hope to see you a little more often. Thanks for letting us know that, number one, you're okay, and number two, what you've been up to lately.

I failed to let Smith Crazy know that it's appreciated that he took the time and effort to contact Sarge and set everyone straight.

Thank you Smith Crazy for your thoughtfulness and 'finding' Preston!

Brass Sorter?

Like many others I'm sure, I'd love the details of the completed industrial strength brass sorting machine along w/Sgt. Preston's other pearls of wisdom.

That's what friends do!

Semper Fi & thanks for the call on Sunday Skip!

I must be honest, I had just a little help from another Marine, Sarge.
I want to publicly thank him for the information so I could get a hold of you.

As you can see from the other posts in this thread alone, you have been greatly missed. Not just by a few Jarheads either! There might be a Swabby or two that has missed you too! ;)

All kidding aside; when you retired I noticed a drop in activity. I am only 53 and have a few more years as someone's slave to go before I "happily retire". At this point I am looking forward to it, being ignorant of all it entails. I know things change in folks' lives and adjustment times are needed. I just didn't want you getting lost in the shuffle, Marine!

This software is a little different BUT it has some real neat features to it. Spell check! That will help most of us not come off like idiots, the Private Message function is cooler than all get out, you can make changes in your post and preview it before you post it, change colors and fonts, sizes and colors, the list function is better along with the outline function.

All in all, pretty cool!
I didn't mention the smiles either! They are neat too!
p.s. I sent you a pm. Check out that function. It is like a quick email!

From your reloading section "room monitor"

My pleasure!

One thing I would like to encourage all to do. Please put an email in your public profile. If you need to make it a different one than your home personal one, I understand. There are lots of places to get extra email from. I have verizon Internet and they allow "sub" accounts. I have my own, the wife has her own, we have a family one, the daughter has one. There are other sites too Google has "Gmail" there is Hotmail, there is the older Juno.

That way if someone "disappears" for a time, we can at least drop a line and let you know you are missed!

socal, again, my pleasure!

What's that, we had a Marine UA for a few days!! Well, glad he was found and all's good. I haven't been in this forum for a bit as I still haven't found my reloading bench since we were relocated to CA. I know it's in the garage some where and I'm going to have to find it soon as I just bought a mountain gun 45 Colt and only have components, no loaded ammo. I've only been shooting once since getting here in September. SP, glad to see you are still around and "enjoying" the retired life. We need you here like we need Doc44, Mikepriwar and the other old S&W experts in the pre-61 forum.

Take Care brother and Semper Fi,

Bill

P.S. if this happens again we'll have a morning formation for accountability!!:D

If I could add a little to this. Its funny how we are all spread out around the country, yet you feel like you know everyone personally. It would be great if everyone would remember to add their location, for some reason I always look for that. Welcome back to the sarge, I was also concerned.....

My pleasure!
