Default Missouri Bullet Company Cowboy #11 .38 Special and Model 64, good combo...

I ordered some cast lead .38/.357 bullets from Missouri Bullet Company, their Cowboy #11 bullet, 158 grain LRN. Like others here on the forum, I was very pleased with their customer service. I had my bullets in hand less than a week after ordering.

These are made from a softer lead, Brinnell hardness 12 (whatever that means), and Missouri Bullet Company reccomended loading them no faster than 800 FPS. I got some Trail Boss powder and loaded them with 3.2 grains, which according to IMR's on-line loading table, should give around 700 FPS. The Trail Boss powder is different, 3.2 grains fills a .38 Special case about 3/4 full, looks like little Cheerio's.

The accuracy I get from shooting these loads in my 4" heavy barrel Model 64 is astounding. Probably twice as accurate as my previous load, a harder 158 grain LSWC at 850 FPS. I can easily hit clay birds at 25 yards, no rest, just a two handed hold. They also give good accuracy in my Marlin lever rifle, around 1.5 inches at 50 yards, from a rest.

Very light recoil also, I let my friends 10 year old son shoot some the other day, and he had no problem hitting 8" steel plates at 15 yards. Previously, he had shot only .22 handguns, so this was a lot of fun for him.

The best thing about these bullets is their price, $28 per 500. They also offer a 158 grain LSWC at the same price.

I'm loading the same bullet for IDPA at about 900 fps out of my 681 and I get no leading and fantastic accuracy. Service and price can't be beat (except by casting your own-I'm just getting into that), and they sell a fantastic product.
