38 S&W CTG is the marking for the cartridge the revolver is chambered for. CTG simply means Cartridge.

According to your Serial Number, it could be a 38 Double Action, 4th Model. Note the exposed hammer. The Serial Number on this one is 3573XX and it left the factory in 1898.

The serial number appears too high for any of the 38 S&W Single Action revolvers, the 38 Safety Hammerless models (hammer hidden inside) or for the 38 Double Action Perfected Model (both a Top Break and a thumb piece cylinder release on the right side.)

Here is a quick shot of all four. From left to right, 38 SA, 3rd Model (Model 1891), 38 DA, 38 Safety, 4th Model, 38 Perfected. As stated above, only one of the four had serial numbers over 400,000, so yours would be a 38 Safety, 4th Model.

Forgot to mention that this model was made from 1895 to 1909, so most are considered as modern firearms by the BATF, made after 1898. The serial number range was from 322,701 to 539,000. The exact antique cut-off was serial number 382,022.

That’s it! Thank you!
