I'm also looking for information on a top break .38 I have, serial number 546xx. its has 4" barrel. Mine has a SW trade mark on the right side of the frame not the left side as most I have found pictures of. Can anyone help.
The logo stamped on the right side frame started in 1896 time frame. If it has a caliber stamp on the left side barrel then it’s post 1902 production.
If it lacks the caliber stamp but has the logo then it was shipped between 1896-1902.
Just a basic rule of thumb that’s spot on.
