K22 CTG
I was recently given a K22 by a relative and gun enthusiast. I have done a little bit of research, but I would like to know more about it. The serial # is K1624XX, it is blued, it has a 4" barrel, and the grips are not original. The grips are genuine stag, but I would like to get period correct grips as well. It has adjustable sights and an assembly screw at the top of the side plate, which dates it to 1955 or earlier. I mainly want to know because I like to know the history of my firearms and for insurance purposes. My other firearms were much easier to research. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Duece, Your pre 18 Combat masterpiece was built in 1952 maybe October.

Your gun would have probably come with magnas with diamonds around the screw and escutchion.

So it is a pre model 18, Combat Masterpiece. Any idea of value for insurance? Thanks for all your help so far, I really appreciate it. Will hopefully have it out at the range this weekend.

Value is dependent on its condition, so between $450 for a worn gun and $650 or so if it is near-new, more if you have the original box and contents.

Thanks for the range in price. It will help when I add it to insurance. Beside the really nice, aftermarket grips, it is in great shape. A little wear from being used, but zero abuse. Can't wait to start shooting with my first S&W. Feels like a really solid gun.

And if you'd looked at the other "CTG" posts, you would have learned that it's an abbreviation for cartridge, not a model. 
No such thing as a K22 CTG.

And if you get 40 mpg,you can go 200 miles on a 5 gal tank of gas.

You certainly can, but on this forum understanding what CTG means is far more relevant.
"I have a CTG, tell me all aqbout it" here is pretty much the equivalent of "I have a 40 MPG, tell me all about it" on an auto forum.

Most likely came with Magnas but the period correct target style look good, too.
