I have a few police issued revolvers that were "demilled" before being sold. Here is a '35 vintage M&P .38 Spl. from the B.C.P. British Columbia Police:

Oh, wrong side:

The agency was taken over by the Mounties. So, this was my only chance to get one from there. This was done in 1971 according to the importation papers that came with it.

This is a '61 vintage Colt Trooper in .38 Special that was carried by the Boise ID PD and then used in training at the state police academy.

Let's see any that you have!!

Best,
Charles

Sorry - this just makes me sad... The grips are really nice on the Smith.

What is done can be undone. I see nothing here that would keep a good gunsmith/welder from putting both these guns back in service. However, I realize they are in your collection, as is, because they are what they are. Ed.

man, id call them paper weights. If the weld on the smith penitrated into the threads you may never get it off. As a rule of thumb i never go in with my TIG to the barrel/thread area everything else could be welded just fine IMO.

The Colt is better as they didnt go crazy with the welding and just drilling. you'll need a new cylinder and barrel for the colt.

That being said, I see two 22lr conversions. weld up the holes on the colt barrel and cylinder, and sleeve the barrel and cylinder and chamber for 22lr change the hammer over to a rimfire setup. It would take alot of work and probably never get out what you had put in by the gunsmith. the smith must have been mounted at one time as i see a taped hole.

The colt would probably be okay with a barrel and cylinder

Cool pieces though, make great display/conversation starters
