6" Post War M&P

Hit the LGS at lunch today and came home with this 6" S series M&P. My first 6" .38 S&W.

I get descent package deals if I buy multiples, so I picked up a low mileage, finished challenged 10-6 to add to my collection of heavy barrels.

All numbers match. S8389xx

S8389xx would date shipment to about mid-1946. It appears correct.

Thanks DWalt for a closer date, I thought it was fairly early in the series.

Very nice, Jimmy. This one probably shipped in September, 1946. Nearby serial numbers did. It also seems to be in the midst of a group of 6" examples.
