I might (might) have scored on another poorly/incorrectly described auction.
Here is the description of the two firearm lot:

Those descriptions make my eye twitch....so much fail.
The pictures and the serial numbers tell me that these two should be a 1950 Target made in 1953-54, and a .38/44 Heavy Duty post-war transition made in 1946-47.
The front sight base on the maybe-1950 looks a little wonky, but the barrel stampings appear to be correct for an original 4" barrel.
We'll find out for sure when they get here.....queue up the 'Anticipation' song from the old ketchup commercial.

With the front sight being "wonky" I would guess it was cut. The good thing with pinned front is you can remove them (with a proper fitting cup tip punch) and have the sight cleaned up and blued. If you do that, look in the barrel keyway and see if it is blued or in the white. That might be a good indication. Either way, it looks like a great gun and sounds like you got them at a great price. Transition guns can be rather pricey too.
