I've got a S&W wooden presentation box that came with my brand spankin' new 4" blued Model 57 back in 1979. Unfortunately that .41 mag was stolen out of my apartment, and I was left with the box and tools. Several years ago, without me knowing, my wife decided to trash the blue flocked liner and turn the box into a jewelry box. Ouch! Is it possible to get a replacement plastic liner, either from S&W or another vendor? I've seen several of you recommend a guy that re-flocks old liners, but haven't seen anyone talk about replacements. Help! Thanks.

S&W hasn't used cases like yours since the mid-80s, so I doubt if they have any liners or cases left in inventory. I have never seen or heard of anyone who sells replacement liners.

Joe does a first class job on his cases. You may not be able to get the old plastic formed liner, but foam covered in cloth looks just as nice and the gun will never know.

If you have the foam and or the plastic liner, Rockler, the woodworking supplier sells a colored glue and powdered flocking that you can use to reflock a case. You buy the adhesive the same color as the flocking material and then it doesn't show through. Apply the glue to the liner and while its still wet you sprinkle the flocking material all over the glue. Let it dry for a day and repeat the process if necessary. I tried it on an old wooden case that I have for a new model 1 1/2 and it looks great.:D

I can vouch for jcelect's work! I have a case that I bought from another forum member quite a while back. Joe had already done the work to the inside, and it was the reason I bought the case. His work is first rate, and actually the soft interior that he put in my case is a lot easier on the guns finish than the old flocking was.

wood presentation case with blue falling out badly

Hello All:
Well I just joined this group, and noticed the last post on this topic was like in 2009. I pray you are all alive and well still. I know in my life, things have changed drastically since then.
I to have a wood case that needs to be relined. Its for a 25-5, 8 3/8 inch barrel. It has that little separate door for the tools to go into. I watched a "flocking" video, and she made it look easy. BUT, I'm NOT creative enough for that. It was mentioned to contact jcelect that he does this sort of work, and is very good at it. I ran all over town trying to find someone who could or would do it, and most didn't even know the term flocking. And these are hobby and craft, and fabric stores. Can you please tell me how to get ahold of jcelect? I'm not real computer savvy either, but I get by, somehow.

Original Poster- Still Kicking!

Good morning- I am the original poster and thankfully still alive and well! Joe Cebull (Forum member jcelect) is also still an active Forum member and resident expert on repairing S&W presentation cases and liners. Joe has repaired 3 or 4 cases for me, and his work is outstanding and fairly priced.

You can include your email address so that you don't need to go through the Forum for every correspondence. Joe usually responds quickly. Good luck. Jim
