I went to the Tulsa Gun Show yesterday and I still can't get over how huge this show is. I was on the floor from 10AM until 5:30 PM and I covered everything but near the end I was just walking up to each dealer and looking for the two guns I wanted and if they weren't on the table I quickly moved on.
On most guns the dealers were close to the current market prices on their guns except for a few that were asking very high prices and they always are. Those dealers have high end guns in excellent condition and they are asking premium prices for them.
An example on dealer had a 17-4 22LR with a 6 inch barrel in excellent condition and he was asking $750 and I bought the same gun in the same condition for $550 at the Springdale show a month ago. He also wouldn't budge of the price and said he would get it and he probably did because 22 revolvers in excellent condition are hot right now.
There were lots of dealers selling ammo and reloading supplies and most of them had decent prices. Gunpowder was selling for $26 a can 6 months ago and one dealer had it for $19 yesterday which is a great price. On ammo you get anything you wanted and the prices were lower then a few months.
My quest for the two guns I was looking for went OK. I found and bought the 29-2 with 8 3/8 inch barrel that I was looking for. The revolver is a solid 99% gun that looks unfired and is pristine. The 29-2 was made in 1976 based on the serial number. I didn't see a 27-2 with 6.5 inch barrel at any dealer’s tables. I did see a Pre 27 with 6.5 inch barrel but if had quite a bit of holster wear (about a (93% gun) and he wanted $1500 so I passed.
I was about to leave the show and a dealer pulled out a Model 18-3 22 caliber revolver with 4 inch barrel he had under the table. The gun had the box numbered to the gun and the paper work in the box. The gun has been shot very little and is a (98% gun) so I dickered with him and I ended up buying it at the high end of the market but the box accessories sealed the deal. He was trying to pass it off as unfired but after cleaning it today it's had a small amount of ammo through it. I was made in 1969 based on the serial number. I plan on it being a shooter so it's going to get more wear on it in the near future.
I was completely worn out at the end of the day which made the 3 hour drive home a killer. Thankfully I had a couple friends with me to talk to on the way home which really helped.
