I have a chance to buy 2 model 29s. Both are 29-2s IIRC. The first one is a 29-2, blued, 4in, NIB - presentation case that is. It doesn't really even have a turn line. The other one, is a 8 3/8 gun in nickel thats also NIB - presentation case. Both are fired. I'm thinking that the seller will ask more for one than the other so I'm wondering which one should I gravitate towards? I think the 4in gun is the more collectible/more in demand 29 but I don't see many long barrel nickel 29s either. What say you?

I say get 'em both! (Sorry. Not much help, I know. But I'll leave that to the experts here)

If you're lookin' at re-sale potential, the 4" gun is gonna go more quickly. Personally I like the nickel guns as well AND the long tubes. But then,I'm easy.:D
f.t.

Act you like the Nickeled gun more because what you really want is the 4" blued one. If you don't know what he plans to do, the best thing is not to let him know what you want.

8 3/8" 29-2's are harder to move than 4" or 6" ones

I'm no expert like many around here, but if I could only get one, I'd buy the blue 4".

If the nickel one is an early gun with the blue front sight, it is a LOT more scarce. If not, the 4" blue gun is more desirable.

I paid less for my 8 3/8" Nickel 29-2 than either of my 4" 29-2s. That being the case if one has an "S" serial number I would lean toward it. At this time 4" guns are definitely in greater demand. YMMV

I knew that was a misnomer. They are LNIB or ANIB but not NIB because they are fired. I don't have enough info at this point. I technically don't know which dash the nickel gun is or if its a S prefix or not. If its just a plain jane 29-2, then I want the 4 in. I hope the 8 3/8 isn't drilled and tapped. I will just have to wait and see.
