uncle mikes boot grip versus Hogue 61000

I'm browsing grips for my model 37, and was debating using the uncle mikes boot grip that came on my 637. I also saw a Hogue model 61000 that looks like it has a little more grip in it for your fingers. Any experince on the two side by side? I am not sure I want a rubber grip, but it's a thought.. the hogue is cheap and I already have an uncle mikes. I wasn't super impressed with the uncle mikes which is why I pulled it off my 637

The Uncle Mikes has been the choice for J frame rubber boot grips for quite some time. The 37 suffers from recoil issues more so than its 36 cousin. I hate to say the P word but pachmayr offers a longer grip with an enclosed back strap that works well. I have both for my 37.
 
O/P, no matter what rubber grips you use, remember they will attract and hold moisture against the grip frame. So remember to remove them every six months or and wipe the grip frame down with a silicon cloth.
 
JMHO, I hate Hogue rubber grips. The pebble finish has never felt comfortable in my hands and the shape doesn't work either.
OTOH, The old Uncle Mike's/Butler Creek grips fit me perfectly. I'm not a huge fan of rubber grips, but the fit is so good for me and the price is cheap that many of my J & K revolvers wear Uncle Mike's. :D
 
Those photos are out of scale.
The Uncle Mike's are larger and thicker in real life, you were better off with the Uncle Mike's if you want a larger hand filling grip, between these two.
 
I have that exact Hogue grip on my M38. It does help with the recoil and it fits my hand well. I really like the grip and consider it an improvement feel wise over the stock stocks... looks wise I like the stock grips better, but functionality is what I'm after with this gun: the hogues are staying.
 
So what I ended up with is the most comfortable ones I have found...

They are the Altamont Falconia boot grip. They are very thick in the pal, close to the backstrap, and do not go below the bottom of the frame. Amazingly tight fit on the gun, and they look nice. This is my 637

these were under $30 off ebay, and I would buy another set in a heartbeat. so nice.

Thanks for posting the update and pics.

I haven't seen these grips before, sure looks nice, modern but classic at the same time.
