What are some of your Favorite grips for a Model 19 2 1/2 inch barreled gun. I'm not a big fan of the little factory grips. I'm not going to be carrying it. And probably wont shoot hot .357's thru it. Just for range shooting and a BBQ gun. I've got a really nice board of KOA wood for John Culina to do his Majic with.

As BAM-BAM suggests - Spegel Boot grips - are about as good as it gets....
The only downside is the wait, his backlog is something like 3 years at the moment... Talked to him recently and he signed off with his favorite tag line - "gotta get back to making saw dust.." :)

I'm a fan of S&W combat grips on the 2 1/2" adjustable sight K frames (or if the fun budget is tight, Vitoonwood/Vitoonmakers pretty close replicas.) I've also got some Robertson's grips on nickel or SS versions.

The 3" Model 66 is wearing checked round butt target grips.

The S&W Combat Grips are generally big dollars and always look nice; but don't always fit everyone's hands.
The checkered target grips pictured are what I made a set of "Boot grips" from before finding Spegel.

K frame grips

I am a little fickle about grips and change them often.

My suggestions:

For comfort when shooting - Pachmayr Compacts
On a DSS Model 19-5 (this is what the Diplomatic Security Service specified on their guns)

For comfortable carry and shooting (wood) S&W round butt combat grips (Banana grips).
On my issued Model 13

For "looks" S&W finger groove combat grips
On my Model 66-1

For BBQ's
Spegel Extended Boot Grips
On a 547

Another suggestion is Magna grips with a grip adapter. Conceals well and is comfortable to shoot
On a Model 65-5 LadySmith

Grips are a very personal thing. What works well for my large hands is probably not a good choice for the 5" tall female Officer and vice versa.

If we have any Forum members near you that can let you try some of these you will be better equipped to make a good choice as opposed to looking at pictures.

I mostly shoot full power ammunition in my snubby 19/66 revolvers. I like to practice with what I will be carrying

One of the most comfortable grips that I have ever used are the Hogue LE grips. These are available in black like the ones on my 19 and they are also available in FDE, Purple and Pink.

I keep a set on the Model 19 that my stepfather purchased back in the 70s. In addition to helping control recoil, the grips are Laser Enhanced which can be a great aid if you have to be shooting around a barricade or in any situation where the sights and your eyes do not line up

A close second in the controlability area are the Factory round butt combats.

Obviously finger groove grips from any manufacturer fit a specific hand size. These work for my large hands but will probably challenge the smaller Officer/Shooter

Actually the DSS revolvers shipped with the Pachmayr Compac Professional grip, not the Compac

The Compac Professional is shorter front to back since it does not cover the backstrap of the revolver like like the Compac grip does.

This is good for the shooter with the smaller hand, but not as pleasant to shoot with full Magnum ammunition as the backstrap does not have the rubber on it.
