Default M686 4" and Millet Sights

Hi,

I just got an old model .312 Millet Rear Sight with the White Outline at a good price.

I know it fits in a M686, but does it has enough elevation for a 4" barrel?

In the package it states it will fit a M19/66 4" but said nothing about 686. Probably it was manufactured before the L Frame went into business?

Any insight will be appreciated.

TD

My 4" M686 has a .360 Rear sight, It's stamped on the front side of the sight itself.. It's adjusted about 50% or half way & shoots to POA perfectly.. I realy love it's sight picture too..

Just so you know,
Brownell's OEM parts listings for S&W revolvers, often include rear sight blade height's as well as front blade height, if the front is replaceable. That's usually a pretty good baseline to use. You may have to noodle around a bit on some to sleuth them out though. That's usually the way I start my searches.

Per a 2001 Millett catalog I am looking at:

.360 height for a 2 1/2, 4, and 6" mod 19, 66m, 586, 686.

The model # is SK00003 (White Outline) or SK00006 (Black)
SW00013 and 14 for the New Rounded Tang sights

The .312 height is not showing as being appropriate for a 19 or 686

The .360" works the best with the standard height front sight. The .410 also works in a lot of cases where the front sight has been changed out to a .300 high sight such as the SDM fiber optic. The SDM front sights come in .250" and .300".

Saw your want to buy listing. Since you already have the sight all you need is a .360 rear blade. Millett sells them separately. I put a link in your WTB listing but here it is again.
They're not hard to change, just don't lose the little "w" springs
