My 327PD does not have wear like yours, but I have only fired about 200 rounds through mine. I agree it looks unusual.

When I shoot lead bullets out of my S&W revolvers, the front of the cylinder often gets fouled as yours is. Yours looks like brass, however, which leads me to believe you're shooting jacketed bullets. I don't believe it's a problem, and that it should clean up OK, just be very careful you don't "scrub" the clear coat on the titanium cylinder, as you can remove it leaving the metal underneath unprotected.

My guns with titanium cylinders don't get the cylinders cleaned with anything other than Hoppes #9. Any fouling that doesn't get cleaned 100% is chalked up to "character". Which is OK, they're tools, not works of art.

IMO that isn't wear, it's a product of Vapor Deposition. What's happening is that the base of the bullet is getting hot enough to produce some matalic vapors. These gases are ejected from the B/C gap, reflected off the top strap, and then deposit on the cool exterior of the cylinder.

Every revolver that I own will get a deposit exactly in that spot, fortunately they are all stainless so it's no problem for me to clean it off. Since you have a Titanium cylinder, I'd consider it a "badge of use" and leave it be. I've seen so many horror stories about what can happen to a titanium cylinder if the protective coating is stripped off I wouldn't risk cleaning it with anything aggressive enough to remove these deposits. At most I'd try using some M Pro 7 and a toothbrush to see if it had any effect. However, before doing that I'd contact the manufacturer and confirm it's save to use on S&W's titanium cylinders. BTW, I just love M Pro 7, it's not at all cheap at about 40 bucks a quart but it's the finest gun cleaner I've ever been able to find.

Thank you again for this community. I tried rubbing the portion with gun oil and a clean patch, some of the residue came off. I will try again to acquire Hoppes #9. If everything fails, I will just leave it as "character".

As long as, this is a residue and not a damaged to the cylinder I can live with it. Thank you again.
