Has S&W ever made a shrouded hammer Scandium J-frame that can fire either single or double action ala model 638? Preferably with Crimson Trace grips?
Thanks, Bill

None that I know of. This 340SC shoots pretty nice with 38s and +P.

357 is a whole other thing.

No such animal, but the difference between a standard alloy and a scandium J frame seem to be about 1-2 ounces. Sounds like a good build-it-yourself project?

A bit of clarification here.

Standard alloy is only used for 38 Special J-frames.

All 357 Magnum J-frames are Scandium.

Both alloys weigh very close.

The major difference in the revolvers is that most of the standard alloy 38s have steel cylinders while the early scandium framed revolvers had titanium cylinders. This made the weight difference almost 4 ounces.
