I have had this in my safe a while and have little knowledge of what it would sell for or be valued today. It's a snub and pinned and recessed. Target trigger and hammer. In the box with tools, paperwork etc....

roman, first off, that is a fine looking M19-4. Probably shipped in 1975, and again, a fine looking M19-4. Value is so subjective, but I will take a shot based on what I have seen LATELY. I have not seen a P&R model 19 sell for less than $500 in good to excellent condition. Just for the heck of it, I checked the completed sales on GunBroker and there is a wide variance in prices. Most sold for over $550, but the average was skewed by one that sold for $800. If it were mine, I would value the package at $575. Prices are all over the place right now. Just my opinion.

Thanks for the research. I figured they were even higher. Be pretty hard to find a firearm of this quality for $575 nowadays so this one is going back into service. LOL

Keep it! Revolvers just aren't bringing the value right now with the pistol/SD craze at it's height. It will surely be worth more in a few years, hopefully?

roman, I can see that I was not clearly stating what I found. A lot of the M19'4's that had sold were not nearly in as good shape as yours. The one that sold for $800, was dang near perfect, but still $800. Several had the hammers bobed, several had extensive holster wear and a couple, just looked really bad. What I should have said is that while I value the package at $575, apparently there are others who place the value closer to $675. Again, prices are all over the place for revolvers, but the M19's that are P&R'd are selling. Sorry for the lack of communication skills, apparently my blood sugar was low.

roman, Is there also a typed label on the other end of the box with a ten digit number?

Just got the same model in similar shape except no box or papers for $499. I live in the Philly burbs.

Here's what I've go on the 19 snubby.

Smith & Wesson 19 2-1/2 inch barrel. Revolver in .357 Magnum,.38 Special, Plus . Bluebook of Gun Values (33nd Edition) indicates between $325 in 95% condition and $550 in 100% condition for this gun. I have 50 recorded prices for this model gun from $395 to $795 over a period of 5 Yrs 4 Mos ending August 24, 2012. The average price as of that date was $548. No refurbs, no refinishes, regular sights. All represented as 95% or better. No distinction for import location or engineering revision, if any, no special editions, no distinctions for box, papers, tools. Current or last MSRP is $457.

Here's how the data charts out (note the chart is four prices behind the data). The Average Price trend was pushing hard at $600 as of July. Better than average examples would command higher prices. Using these data, a top price for something like you have, might easily trip between $740 to to about $830. You might have to wait for that level of pricing should you decide to sell it soon.

What's interesting to me is the number of guns coming on to the market is growing along with the prices. So Model 19 owners are, apparently, taking advantage of the appreciated value the demand is inducing. I'd expect the appreciation to continue, especially if the number for sale levels or begins to decline.

I recently bought a very nice used nickel 6" 19-4 from a member here. I would say it is a 96% gun or maybe even a little better from my opinion of seeing other guns on here. That snubby you have is worth more than the average 4" 19-4. I believe you can get a solid $700 for it and maybe a little more. It is not worth $1,000 on here but maybe on Gun Broker you will get more. I have seen people pay ungodly amounts of money for firearms that were not worth much at all to begin with. If you sell it, put it on here first.

gumpys, I'm not so sure that a $1,000.00 K frame is such a stretch. i foresee these guns, especially the snubs, approaching that value for NIB condition in the coming years. They don't make them anymore, and usually, that's what it takes to make something in high demand. We'll see; the market sets the prices. 5wire, you have GOT to be an accountant; keeping up with selling prices that way, and making those charts! :)

Jframe,

Model 66's are already hitting 1K , just not the 19's unless of course you have a 3". I do not see them hitting that number anytime soon.

The standard 2.5", 4" and 6" Model 66 as well as Model 19-3 and up can still be found closer to $450.00 to $500 in my neck O the woods.

5" and 3" guns and early 4 screw 19 varients of course are higher.

The OP's gun is a very nice complete package I would guesstimate at between $500 to $700 in SE Florida.

A 4" Nickel 19-5 closer to the $450 mainly because its not P&R,
In contrast the same nickel 4" four screw 19 no dash with diamond targets is an $800 gun.

All these are IMO of course not set in stone.
