520 NYSP
Found a 520 on gunbroke for a grand, round about. Looks to me it's been carried or handled poorly. It's local though and I may offer a trade if the individual is willing. What I'm concidering is a very clean 27-2 the three T's and three and a half inch with box for a straight up trade. Sound straight to you all? Have a look, see what you think.

520's are nice in my opinion and certainly alot rarer than 3 1/2" 27-2's, but I think you'd come out short on the deal... why not just pay him cash and keep both guns? The money is gonna be damn near worthless in the very near future anyway...

The asking price of the 520 is about what your 3.5" 27-2 is worth, but I think the condition of the 520 as you describe it does not sound like a $1K gun. I'd expect a NIB 520 at that price.

Most of these guns were bought NIB and put away by owners who recognized their future collectibility. The going rate for such an example has been around the 1K mark. Sounds to me like you have found an all-too-typical seller who does not seem to acknowledge that lower condition LOWERS value. Walk away.

520
I do have a nickel 27-2 but has service hammer and trigger with magna grips that I've decided to keep. Can't lose on a straight trade money wise, but the fixed sight N-frame is the draw for me. So I just thought I'd ask and have recieved sound advice Thanks to all of you. I know the condition of the 520 isn't as new but still a good pistol as a shooter.

It will be harder to find a nice 3" model 27-2 with box and stuff for $1000.00 than to find another model 520.As was said,it seems that the going price for new or like new in box 520's is $1000.00.I paid $995.00 for my new in box model 520 and I am in CA.

Don't do it. If you want a fixed sight 357 shooter get a 581, 681 great guns for a lot less money and keep your 27-2 you will sorely miss it and getting another will be very painful. Ask me how I know? Ok, I'll tell ya. I sold a 3.5" 27-2 with Ivory Magnas to a friend that just had to have the weapon! I set an impossible (to me) and the friend came up with the cash. That was 20 years ago. To this day the friend shoots the 3.5"er and smiles,he won't consider any offer.
